Just another Active school shooter

While I'm not discounting in any way this being part of an overall planned sequence of events, It seems these days children are not being taught how to deal with real life that comes with it's ups and downs & not taught proportional responses.

Being bullied & the school won't stop it..... shoot up the place
Dumped by your girlfriend... shoot up the place
Unpopular with your desired gender... shoot up the place
Don't have any friends... shoot up the place

Apparently kids think the world should be their perfect little paradise garden for their snowflake selves & never got taught that life is tough, rough, unfair & painful & you need to suck it up & press onwards.

In having a daughter my biggest fear is she meets a guy who was never told "NO" by his mommy.

@W54/XM-388 said it very well. Kids are not taught to cope, they are coddled. This starts at 2 years old (hell younger) not 14. I am a dick when I tell my daughter "suck it up buttercup". But she has turned out amazing.
Parents don't understand "short term pain = long term gain"

I agree that kids are taught that anything that happens to them they don't like makes them a victim. But this has been the way for years. It could be that all the hate the Press spews 24/7 may help trigger them.

If one or two snap a year I could say ok random stuff happens. But it seems to me lately that every time the heat gets turned up on the criminals something happens. At some point this just becomes a mathematical anomaly. I don't know if this is just a odd thing or not. I am not saying conspiracy lurks every where.

My point is at what point does the coincidence end and the option of something darker begin? Or do we just accept it and move on?

Im dealing with a thing going on with my son and its been an eye opener.

He had multiple bouts of strep over the winter and now he has developed some severe anxiety and emotional issues.

Its a condition that only a small part of the medical community wants to accept and its not only related to strep infections, Lyme, walking pneumonia other infections can trigger a problem.

The mechanism is that the infection gets in the system. The autoimmune system revs up to attack it. Traditional treatment and the autoimmune system do not destroy the whole infection or a quick follow on second infection occurs spinning up an already spun up autoimmune response.

Our brains have a blood/brain barrier that protects the brain from infections that inhabit the rest of the body. I wasnt aware of this "force field"of the brain but there are a lot of things about our amazing bodies I dont know about.

Anyway, apparently doctors are discovering that our present generations of kids have a blood/brain barrier that does not perform as well as prior generations. They are discovering that a common place for the blood/brain barrier to "leak" is at the area of the amygdala/basal ganglia. These two areas control our most basic non conscious functions. They are our primal brains.

When the immune system is spun up and pushing killer proteins into our blood stream to attack the infection some of these proteins are crossing the blood/brain barrier at the amygdala/basal ganglia and it causes inflammation resulting in behavioral changes.

My sons issue appears to be in his amygdala more so than his basal ganglia.

The amygdala controls fight or flight, fear and anxiety. It controls basic survival emotions and it has caused us to suffer some serious emotional disturbances, he expressed self harm during the worst of it and came at me with a bat at one point, hasnt been to school in 8 weeks, and a once independent, outgoing kid will not leave the house to play with friends. All out of character. In 11 years and two months of life this has only exhibited itself the last two months and the change was overnight right after a 4th bout of strep. we are getting him the best treatment possible and are optimistic this will be beaten.

Kids with issues more related to the basal ganglia tend to show OCD disorders and chorea type movements. Our son hasnt really exhibited OCD issues or strange motor disturbances.

Anyway the med community really isnt on board that body infection causes mental issues. Parents that have brought their kids to Childrens Hospital in Boston asking for help with this have had their kids taken into custody against their parents wishes (Im guessing there may be more to the story but something bigger is wrong there). The majority part of the medical community wants to treat these things like psyche issues when in fact they are medical issues.

The result is that the psyche treatments only mask the symptoms of what is going on while the root medical cause (inflammation, possible latent infection, and a spun up immune system) go untreated.

I had never heard of this before and we only caught it early via someone catching a news article and sending it to us. I consider us lucky while I have read stories of parents going through something similar for years and they are on the psyche path which leaves me wondering how many young people out there are affected by this and not getting proper treatment?

This seems to be an issue that the effected will grow out of late teens/early twentys and generally effects kids before puberty but not after.

The cynic in me feels that a certain pharmaceutical community would rather not have this issue become known as it may lead to a loss of a lot of lifetime prescription issues and hours billed for office visits.

I couldn’t agree more. This is a symptom of a generation plagued with issues.

Strep is powerful stuff. My father died from complications from untreated strep, it destroyed his kidneys, he was 37. But if anyone discounts the affect of disease or infection on mental health they need look no further than ghonnorea. That shit puts holes in your brain.

As a father of a child who suffers from anxiety and signs of OCD, I am most interested in pursuing more what you have shared.

Research that date an every other date where/when mass shootings happened. Then read the headlines prior to the shooting dates. There is a pattern to everyone. It does not take many brain cells to see the pattern. They only people who don't see/understand whats happening have a IQ lower than room temp, or those who are part of the plan.

Im not a doctor and we have pursued the psych option but right now everything seems to point to us getting a medical treatment than perhaps introducing a psyche treatment plan.

I dont want to indicate what we are going through is similar nor do I want to give false hope because even at 8 weeks of treatment we have not had a great deal of improvement.

What is important is that we have not gotten worse and I have read stories of what some families are dealing with and in some sense I think, even as hard as this is, we are lucky.

Send me a PM if you would like to discuss Ill reply with a phone number and can describe what we have been through and what we are doing.

It is a path to instant fame.

Bingo. Want to see it stop? We need legislation that forbids the use of the killers name in any form of media, digital, print, etc.

You want his name, pick up the phone and call somebody who knows but it should never be spoken on air or found in articles about the incident. They should be referred to as the killer or the shooter only. No photos of them either.

Remove the fame component and you remove the incentive to do it in the first place. The media won't do that though, because they aren't interested in anybodys safety or well being, just their precious ratings.

Room temp here is 70* and I don't think I part of the plan. Where does that leave me?

Well, it didn't take David Hogg to get a statement out. Not sure if he'll claim he was there yet, but in keeping with his usual level of eloquence: "...get ready for two weeks of politicians acting like they give a s***."

Such a class act, that kid. The bigger shame is that mommy and daddy are proud of him.

Just a personal opinion, but I think it has deeper roots than simply being coddled and told "you're special" all the time. People have been coddled in every generation. I'm not discounting that position as it definitely has its place in the discussion. What I think is an equally important ingredient in the mixture is that people simply are not taught the sanctity/value of human life anymore. Everything from the news, movies, television, music, video games, books, etc. seemingly ignores the fragility and beauty of human life.

Couple the lack of value for human life with the narcissism that is rampant in the majority of today's culture and you have a dangerous cocktail. It's all about me and my desires....whether those desires are noble or ignoble.

Granted, the vast majority of people in the world have a natural buffer between anger and action, and can control (to some extent) their response to slight or disappointment, but those that do not have such a buffer are dangerous. Just take 30 minutes and peruse LiveLeak. Watch all the videos of teens videoing people beating the shit out of one another while those videoing the carnage are either cheering or laughing....and I'm not talking simple wrestling or fist fights here.....I'm talking beat downs. The proliferation of media that seemingly glorifies or endorses this behavior leads to a weakening of inhibition regarding such actions. Sure, there were fights when I grew up, but not to level of brutality you see. This type of behavior simply "desensitizes" people to violence.

It breaks my heart to see this crap go on. I'm not so knee-jerk to think it is a firearms issue. To me, attacking guns is the pussy way out. All that position does is show me that those who want to end/heavily regulate gun ownership either cannot see the problem, or more likely, have no solution for the real problem and they think that "at least doing something" is important......even if that "something" yields little to no result. The "end/heavily regulate gun ownership" position deals with the fruit.....not the root. Thinking that removing guns will end all violent behavior is the same as thinking that plucking all the apples from a tree will cause the tree to no longer bear fruit. If you want an apple tree to stop bearing fruit, attack the root system.

let me clarify something, i wasn't calling you moron, i was referring to doctors, the medical and science community. so often many mental health issues are improperly treated because the underlying infection/didease (strep being an example) has cause a chemical reaction in the body. this could activate recessive genes, trigger other health issues or mental health (that's a large lump of things. depression, anxiety to name a few).

It sounds like you are on the right track in identifying the underlying cause of your sons issue. that's a lot farther a long than 99% of the people out there.

I read nothing in your post other than a caring person dealing with a child issue hoping to do the best for their child. I hope I didn't convey some sort of offense in my reply because there was none felt.

Train and arm more teachers, please.
Some but not enough isd's in Texas allow carrying by staff.
Saturday is national train a teacher day. (At our local range defender outdoors )
Our governor should make a law that prevents isd's from having a means from stopping the teachers that want to carry.
The teachers that carry should get a pay incentive.

Porn, abortion, God is illegal, no daddy figures, broken families, same sex marriage is ok, constant barrage of death and gore on the tube, zero accountability for their actions, this is common shit amongst society today. I’m not surprised. Sickens me. God bless. We need more god fearing people..... as humans the sanctity of life is engrained unto us by our creator. But this creator has been removed from our children’s lives. Who do we have to blame? Ourselves?

Took the day off to run some errands and was wondering what was up with all the sirens, cop cars, ambulances. I've got a fair number of friends with kids at Santa Fe so I hope everything's OK with them. This shit is getting a little too close to home as my girls go to a HS about 15 miles away from SFHS. As said before, it just seems almost too regular to be random.
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner is grabbing hold of the moment for some political posturing. Fcker.

Edit: Just heard CNN blaming the NRA. smh

I have a lot more to say than what I am about to but I have a job and will have to come back later.
There are multi-facets to this issue. Your points are right on also. I was NOT coddled 40 years ago like kids are now.

My apologies if I incorrectly relayed what I meant.

What I meant to state was that each generation has/had individuals who are/were coddled....I did not mean to insinuate that every person in a generation (today's youth included) are coddled. I was definitely not a coddled child (and many on these forums were not coddled also, I'm sure) and I strive every day to not coddle my children as well.

What I meant to say is that there has always been a portion of society that has been coddled....even in the "old days". The difference today seems to be that the portion of society that was coddled is now coupled with extreme narcissism and a weird/retarded view of not only self-worth, but the worth of life in general.

What was the headline yesterday?
Whats been in the headlines for the last 10 years? What was in the head lines just before McDonalds in 84, a hint, Brady, Ray-Gun an the NRA. What was in the head lines before Vegas? Look at all the shootings past 1984 an research for your self. Every time there is a mass shooting there is always gun control paper floating around prior. That is not coincidence that is a plan being worked! These people are smart an are not going away on their own.
