My $40 Bushnell straight 20x60 was starting to get blurry and knew it was getting time to let it go the great optics graveyard.
I had just sold a bunch of items that I don't use or shoot any more and saw a local guy had a spotting scope for sale. Made arrangements to meet and inspect.
Here's what I got for $495
Used Kowa 821m, 27x eye piece, codura cover, & lens caps
Freeland heavy duty tripod stand w/zoom head
I stretched a little to get it and have never had a spotting scope that cost this much. I've been called frugal!
Was this worth the $495 (want to justify it to me and my CFO-wife)

Took a lot of cleaning and wiping down to get it to this point. All looks ok so far and will get it out this weekend for some 200yd 7mm chrono and brass sizing.
Thanks in advance!

I would say you got a pretty good deal, I use a Kowa for blackpowder cartridge silluoutte shooting out to 550 yards they do a great job of picking up mirage which is critical for slow moving bulletts.

New, your stuff would probably be around $650 without a tripod! You can check out Buffalo Arms web site on the web they sell a lot of them.

great little scopes.

Have fun and enjoy!

The scope goes for about $700 (just the scope body - no cover, and no eyepiece). Add another $170 for the eyepiece, and $65 for the cover. The stand is $125.

So you're looking at a new cost of ~$1060. Less than half of street price for a new one is a pretty good deal for a used one one in the pictured condition.

<span style="color: #000099"><span style="font-weight: bold">Thanks guys - it made me a little nervous that I pulled the trigger on that much for a spotting scope. I have Nightforce BRs on my F-Open and F/TR rifles and of course it is a pain to pull one off to use as a spotting scope since my lowly Bushnell faded out.
Just never considered jumping this high on spotting glass. Feel better!

CFO is OK - I sold my motorcycle & car parts so I have some wiggle room

Thanks again!
