Sometimes I can, but often we shoot from several different areas in one course of fire. By the time we're clear and moving away from the line, the next shooter is in position ready to start.

To avoid losing Lapua brass that drops the x47 off the list.

The 260 doesn't fit in the mags as nicely as the 6.5CM does, especially if you want to run VLD's and get to the lands.

What is the twist on your barrel?
Long action + 6.5mm barrel = .264 Win... to me anyway.
You would need to open the bolt face or buy a magnum bolt, $125 at PTG.
You could use every bit of that barrel length and easily push a 140 gr. bullet over 3200fps.

I don't know why this cartridge gets shunned like it does, it hasn't been mentioned once, the overbore I suppose. I would be interested in hearing opinions, I've got a 6.5 Bartlein on order and I'm thinking .264Win.

There is a lot of debates over which one is better, after several months of researching the same dilema, the 260 wins easily, figure the largest choice of brand of brass, dies if you relaod an if you don't factory ammo is damn near everywhere.
reamers are easily obtained. Ammo feed great out of mags too.
I have had all three of the 6.5 creedmoor, lapua and 260 rem The 260 is still in the safe shooting great.

I have bought a .284 barrel for a 7-08 to go with a tac 30 AW action i have on order... I should have stayed out of this thread... I now have an 8 twist 6.5 barrel on order after reading all this and am leaning toward the 260, cos I can run the longer OAL with the AW mags. The 7mm barrel can sit for the next project

The blank is an 8 twist and bolt faces are not an issue. I have savage actions, easy bolt face swap. I was thinking I would put my 260AI on one of my short actions and possibly chamber for a genuine LA cartridge. Perhaps get the blank nitrided too.

1+ 6.5 Creedmoor.

Excellent ballistics, low recoil. I shoot factory match went I don't have time to reload, and save the brass for handloading later.

I run a semi-auto in the same caliber as my bolt gun, so for me it was an easy decision.

How about the 6.5 SLR? In it's pure form (not the SLR/s), it needs a long action.

Its all in how you're going to use it. If you plan on a lot of "lost-brass" matches, 260. If not, 6.5x47 Lapua.

Can't go wrong with any of the 6.5's. I have a 6.5wsm that I highly reccomend, shooting 139 scenars at 3232. Also building a .260 with reamer made to use the 139's in an AI mag. I highly recomend the wsm. 20 moa to 1000 yds is nice
