Here is My take on it. It's Illinois. If a private citizen can't carry in Denny's, then the cops shouldn't be able to either. All other Illinois businesses should do the same. Even uniformed police.
When I first read the article, I was perturbed, but after giving it some thought...I figure even though the manager wasn't really a champion of 2nd amendment rights, he turned out to be one by default.

i just want to know what was going through the head of the person that told the manager.
"OMG all 5 of those clean shaven, well dressed, guys have guns and they have radios too! that must be so they can call in more gang members!"
i swear some people have no awareness. one quick look out front at the multiple unmarked cars is all it would take
