Hello all! First time poster from East Texas! I have been searching about a specific rifle and several posts brought me here, so I made an account to say thanks and ask more questions.

I am buying a KAC SR25 Match. This the rifle with the 24 inch barrel. It has a threaded GAS block for suppressor mount. I have paid for the rifle and it is being shipped to me in a week or so.

I would like to return it to original, if that’s possible. So, my remaining questions have to deal with original configuration, not what works for me.

I know it has a “sniper” grip on it. Some places I have seen it as original, other places I have read it came with an A2 or Ergo grip. Which one should I go for?

What is the correct scope for it? Did it share the scope with the mk11 mod 0? I believe that was a Leupold VARI-X 3.5x10? Can you be more specific?

Which EXACT scope rings? I don’t have a clue. I’ll assume a KAC product, but which one EXACTLY?

That’s all I know that’s been altered in in the rifle.

I am trying to get a custom suppressor made, because I’ll never be able to acquire OR afford the original.

Thanks.

I bought and sold quite a few of these early SR-25's in the mid-90's.

The original pistol grip on the commercial rifle was the plain old A2. Nothing else.

The Israelis and some SEALs used the Sierra Precision Rifle (aka "SPR") Grip.

sierra precision rifle company

This is the same grip David Tubb used on the early Tubb 2000 rifles.

The Israeli guns were ordered fitted with the SPR grip from KAC. The Navy guys retrofitted theirs on their own, thoroughly enraging the DevGroup armorers when they found out.

The KAC SR-25 uses a vertical spring and detent for the rear push pin This spring, just like the safety selector detent spring, is held in place by the pistol grip. So, swapping out a pistol grip on a KAC rifle is a bit more complicated than doing so on an AR'.

KAC did offer Leupold scopes for sale, as well as suitable KAC rings. The premier scope available at the time IMO was the Leupold Mk 4 10x40:

These were the KAC rings for it:

These were beautifully crafted scope rings, even by today's standards. They were quite unique back then.

KAC still offers the suppressor:

I doubt anyone will be able to design and build a one-off suppressor of any quality for you for what this suppressor sells for at retail.

Thanks. I’ll get those rings and locate that optic. I have a bunch of A2 grips around, so that’ll go on it.

Now for the suppressor. I have the version with the threaded gas block, so the suppressor screws onto the gas block. From what Ive read, those suppressors did not make it into civilian hands. The suppressor you linked was to one that quick attaches to the gas block, for the mk11 mod 0. I am asking about the SR25 Match, with the 24 inch barrel (not 20).

That’ll have to be custom made.
