Rifle Scopes Kahles 624i WOW

When I thought about what scope to get for my 20 inch 6.5-47 I pretty much had my mind set on a S&B 3-20 or 5.5-25x56 as I have had them before in the past and been extremely happy . Well I ended up going a different direction with the kahles 624i and to be honest before I got it I was second guessing myself .
well it came in today and all I can say is WOW what a scope . Glass is awesome and to my eyes just as good as my S&B s . Edge to edge clarity at all power ranges is the best I've seen and zero tunneling . To be honest I can't find anything wrong , love the mil4 reticle and everything about this scope . If your in the market for a new scope do not hesitate this is a keeper !

Glad to hear. I've been contemplating one of these for my back ordered DTA SRS Covert 16" 308. Hopefully will arrive in the next 4-6 months.

Glad you went that route Dustin. We've had the same reaction from our customers that you have experienced. They are great scopes, Really glad to see the relationship that they now have with DTA as well as the three gun community.

Glad to hear this. I will have one enroute to me very soon from Troy at Veteran Tactical. Actually sold a S&B 3-20x50 to go with the Kahles 624i after hearing so much good feedback on it. Plus, it is more lefty friendly in design.

Looking pert hard at the Kahles thou i want the MSR reticle

if i cant find one then it will be the Steiner 5-25 MSR

Being a lefty i like the topside parallax, and everyone reports glass is on par with SB

Hua, maybe I had a very earily one (back last summer) or they just dont work for my eyes. Whial mine was good, it was by no means better than my PMII. I tried it several time on many different days and each time with each test I thought the Bender was better. Maybe its time to try one again...

Had my Kahles 624i for 4 months and plan on purchasing another in the near future. Have had 2 PMII's which are very good scopes indeed. To my novice eye the K624i is more forgiving in terms of eye relief. Glass on both scopes is outstanding. I honestly can't decide which is better in the glass department. Both are VERY good, but you save $500-$600 with the Kahles. You won't regret purchasing the Kahles, good luck !

I agree with ziggy. What I think makes it better than the S&B is the eye box. The glass is great in both.

I agree with you jbell, My experience was exactly the same as yours.
Except i wont be trying another one because i'm sick of trying scopes looking for the White Elephant the perfect scope!!! We are splitting hairs with optics a little too much these days.
I plan to shoot more worry about trying the newest model scopes less

Scopes at this level are all good..
I love my K312

To me it has a very generous eyebox and it so easy to get behind and get a great sight picture and the image just seems so "big"

Just returned from Austria last night, I was given a tour of the new Kahles factory, and talk about "WOW" ... this place is impressive.

I will do a full report but here are a few images in the mean time

Here is the CEO with a piece of bar stock used for the scope bodies.

After the bar stock comes out of the machine, you have these

Brand new computer controlled machines, in fact the entire building is so new it's 100% climate controlled with the latest modern advancements to hold the temperature and humidity to optimum levels so not to influence the aluminum.

I do, I will make an official post as I spent the week with the Kahles Crew.

In it to win it is a strange way to describe the oldest scope company in the World. They have been doing this longer than anyone else in the business, period.

Here is a scope from 1908 by them,

The top scope is the world oldest scope ever,

This rifle was found leaning against a mountain after 30 years in the field, it has a Kahles on it that was still incredibly clear,

The factory they built is the most modern of any scope company I have been too, and I have toured several factories, nothing compares in terms of modern methods, albeit they are not large, they are definitely cutting edge.

Their testing and QC methods are really unrivaled in my opinion.

Even this process is being modernized to include a computer controlled method for testing consistency from one click to another, plus cameras are being added to actually "read" the image from scope to scope to ensure quality.

As I said I will make a complete post but I took images and spent time in every department.

What I mean by "in it to win it" is that they have aparently invested a lot in their current line of scopes. They have came out with a larger product line that fills more needs than ever before. I can remember not too long ago that did not have that much to offer in terms of variety, at least in this country. I am looking forward to your full post.

They are well known here in Europe but 99.99% of the scopes were focused on hunting needs. But with the latest series of scopes i believe they will make a fortune as new models are really nice (you can park a truck in their eyebox and still be able to see the target almost on par with Hensoldt).

The MSR should be available soon. Only some small changes like a small dot in the middle of the center cross hair.

Any idea about availability and pricing on reticle swaps? I suspect the Mil 4 will work fine with my meager skills, but would like to know about reticle swaps for possible future reference.

I am really looking forward to checking out this scope. I'm glad Kahles is emerging as a high-end tactical scope option. I was not aware they even existed six months ago.

If you mean the 5-20x vs 6-24x, the Kahles is much better...

Austrian Glass, and they just just improved the coatings so the models coming out over the next 3 months have even better coatings. Remember, Kahles is the sister company to Swarovski, in fact they do the anodizing for them.

The Kahles is more in line with S&B in terms of glass than with Vortex. The Vortex is nice, but it's not really fair to compare it to a Kahles, especially the new glass.

The lenses are computer batch tested and a camera inspects them down to sub-particle level. In fact they gave me a lens with a blemish on it from the coating, (a blemish the computer inspector caught) and a Loupe, even showed me a blown up photograph of where the blemish was and I could not find it but the computer did.

Running the Razor at K&M gave me respect for it, however I can't wait to pick up a Kahles to replace it.

I believe they just released it and the DTA reticle for SHOT, so what they said then was, about a 3 month lag for the new scopes to hit the States.

There shouldnt be an up charge for the MSR reticle as it is "their version" of it, very close but a few differences. The L is there, but moved, and the center section is a bit different. So I don't think it is true MSR, but more of a Kahles version, I maybe wrong they may have licensed it, but I believe they deviated enough to move around it.

They have the new updated glass / coatings that improve the picture, and the two new reticles, so I would suspect the dealers will start seeing them around May.

Nick, we did, we spent 5 days in Vienna and hit the main tourist attractions, great eats everyday, being right across from the Opera House (you probably stayed at the same place) we were within walking distance to many of the highlights and we took advantage of the time off.

Ken at Khaybes has told me they do have to pay royalties to Finn Accuracy for using the MSR reticle but he also assured me they're nowhere near the fees that Horus charges to use their reticles.

I would guess that the upcharge will be similar to what S&B's upcharge is for the MSR, possibly $150-200. We'll know for sure once they hit the market.

I really want to try a K624 but I'll probably wait for the MSR reticle & new coatings before ordering one.

We had a 624I come by my work on its way back from shot show. I will be getting one. It'll it fit in nice with all the other high end glass out there if not exceed it.

And a little birdie told me supply and demand won't be as big of a deal as it is with certain S&B's
