I just recently picked up an S&B 5-25 and very impressed compared to the four NF 5-22s I have on my rifles. So thinking of slowly upgrading all my NFs to high end glass slowly. I was looking at the Kahles k624 particularly with the mil6 reticle which is a Horus looking reticle. I wanted to know how the Kahles stacks up against the S&B as far as glass clarity, features and ruggedness. All inputs appreciated.

I have a Kahles 624i and a few PMII's. I would say the PMII has a definite edge in clarity and resolution at high mag 20X and above. below 20x I can't tell any difference between the two.

I prefer the PMII over the Kahles mainly because its what i'm used to, parallax on the Kahles is taking me a while to get my head around. being that its the only scope with it located under the elevation turret, its not second nature yet!

It's hard to trump the S&B It really is the Best scope made IMO there is nothing i don't like about it..... Except the price:( I try other scopes nearly as good, cheaper, etc but in the end I alway go back to the PMII

Cheers

Thank you and damn you for ruining my hope for a "cheaper" scope that is just as good as the S&B lol

Agree with the above poster. I have spent a good amount of time behind my friends Kahles 624i and it's an amazing scope no doubt, but I'm still a loyal S&B guy the PMII 5-25 still rules the roost. My friend who owns the Kahles agrees as well. Try to get behind both if you can.

The Kahles isn't quite as good as the S&B glass wise, but I do like the turrets on it better and feel like the scope is easier to get behind and keep a good sight picture.

well i have to disagree on the pmii glass being better. i have had both, i ended up trading my 5-25 pmii for a rifle and keeping the kahles. the k24i has amazing edge to edge clarity, no tunneling at any range. i have the Mil 4 reticle which in my opinion is a better tactical reticle. i also took lowlights advise on it. if you get it you wont regret it. the turrets are fabulous absolutely great. the glass is on par if not better. in my honest opinion.

I briefly had an S&B 3-20 and I currently have a S&B 4-16 and a Kahles 6-24. Let's just say I'm not sorry I swapped the 3-20 for the 6-24. In fact, I like it so well I'm planning on getting another Kahles one for my 338 build. As a lefty I LOVE the parallax knob placement.

Very close in terms of clarity, IMO. My eyes can't tell any difference. You're really splitting hairs when it comes to clarity. Having both scopes I prefer the Kahles 624i due the more forgiving eyebox. It's just easier for me to get behind the Kahles. If you are ever near the Portland area I would be happy to let you give it a try.
