KAK budget build

Decided i needed another budget 556 build. I starred by looking at barrels from various mfg's and narrowed it down to these lengths
13.9
14.5
Or just a 18" spr contour
Kak has these barrels under oe-spec from 125-150.
Ordered the 18" and still may do a 13.9" later. Some pretty quick shipping as it's here a few days later.
I will borescope the barrel. And start assembly. I plan on using a BCM blemished upper receiver.
I may build a complete lower and build two separate uppers.
I like taking chances on these cheap barrels.
18" is 1:7 and will get fed 77gr handloads using sw match or 2520

I'll be interested to see how the 18" KAK barrel shoots. I ordered one of their 12.5" mid length barrels a while back, but just got around to building up the upper last weekend. It's a thoroughly budget build, used a BCM blem upper, NBS ultralight 12" handguard and an SA AGB.

The barrel seems to be ported for unsuppressed use, and I think I'm going to DT my old Saker 762 on semi-permanently, so I'll need to mess around with buffer weights and maybe springs to get it where I want it in bleed off mode.

Could you possibly weigh it ? ( KAK doesn't show the weight of that barrel. )
And if possible , measure the gas port size ?

FWIW... my Criterion 18" RLGS has a .092" GP, And my Centurion 18" RLGS has a .101" GP.

FWIW... my Criterion 18" RLGS has a .092" GP, And my Centurion 18" RLGS has a .101" GP.

I don't have the proper pin gauges to measure gas port size but I can do the rest.

I have an AR pistol with an 11" KAK 7.62x39 barrel paired with a KAK BCG. It consistently shoots steel cased ammo around 1.75 moa. Solid quality that I recommend.

Not to pull off topic, but I chrono'd the KAK 12.5" yesterday when I was playing around with buffer weights and was pretty impressed with the velocity of the AAC 77gr OTM out of the short barrel. Seems like it's only ~200fps down from an 18-20".

If it shoots ok with this load and the 75gr black tip or 77gr TMK, I might not bother loading for it for around the house armadillo and deer duty. BTW, an H2 settled things down nicely suppressed in bleed off mode.

Fwiw... the Centurion ( the heavier of the 2 18" barrels ) is 2lbs 6.3oz.
And the Criterion is 2lb 2.5oz

That is some stout performance with 77’s from a 12.5.” Could stretch that out quite a bit.
