Having issues with my McMillan HTG (M40A-1) stock and using a NF 5.5-22 50mm scope. I went the typical route by using a Eagle stock pack with some close celled foam under it.
While sighting in the rifle the stock pad woulld shift and wasn't too thrilled how it worked. It still was too low for me. Next option was to try the Karsten B model cheekpiece.
I order the B model with the exposed knobs so I could adjust it in the field if need be. Installing it wasn't difficult. I used blue painters tape to lay out where I wanted the cheekpiece.
Making sure the bolt would cycle and be able to remove it. The good thing about the camo molded caused a seam in the stock I used that as guide and measured out where to drill the holes. A measure twice and drill once is a good idea on a $500 stock.
The holes lined up and everything bolted together as expected. Nicely done and looks like a factory option.
