The only tragedy in all this is she has a 13 y/o daughter that now doesn't have a mother on this Earth. I'm otherwise completely unsympathetic towards those who commit suicide. I cannot understand how anyone can allow their inner demons supersede their parental obligation to their children, nor will I waste any brain power on trying.

I'd say without a doubt that anyone, having lived a Manhattan lifestyle for five years, would at least have liberal tendencies. I'm quite comfortable at Zabar's, not completely out of touch with 7th Avenue sensibilities, actually did art school after a BA, function in a field rife with folks redder than fire trucks, but still manage to know where my lines are and recognize clearly that up with which I will not put – including sentence-ending prepositions in formal speech. Nonetheless, I'm pretty damned sure that Kate was 1,000 M to the left of me in all things political. And I'm fairly certain that you're, by virtue of background and experience, a de facto devil's advocate amongst us. But that's okay. The shooting sports are and should be encompassing, but not of that which would work against our interests from within.

Living in NYC doesn't make one a commie. Staying in NYC when you don't have to does. I have a few born and bred NYC friends that make Rush and Hannity look like Rahm and Hillary. None of them still remain in the city.
I could care less about her politics. Did she serve her country? Did she suffer some grave mental trauma through her being a selfless servant of the people? Did she receive insufficient medical care because she couldn't afford better, instead of getting treatment she was prescribed one antipsychotic after another with little to no regard for contraindication, as well as zero counseling support? No? Hmm....

I did my best to get out of that joint when I had the chance. In fact, I only applied to programs out of NY almost exclusively, and ended up falling on my sword in a pretty shitty place years ago. I hope to God I don’t have to live in NY again.
I will say that everyone has their cross to bear. Saying that there is no reason for suicidal ideation or completion outside of combat is pretty obtuse. My dad used to say the same shit until I shut his ass up. And this has nothing to do with taking anything away from anyone whom has been in combat.

And I'm not saying that combat vets have a corner on mental trauma or "justifiable" suicide. What I'm saying is everyone gets all up in arms when a celebrity kills themselves, whether it's Kate Spade or Robin Williams, and the press blasts it all over talking about it, that we should do something about it, blah blah blah. They ignore every single day the men, women, and children who deal with the exact same and not a single mention of them, their struggle, their pain, or the ones they leave behind asking questions that will never be answered. It's a media feeding frenzy with them padding their bottom lines with the blood of others, all for the sake of their advertising income.
I despise selfish celebrities and the obsession America and the rest of the world has with them. I really could give a fuck less if every one of those self absorbed shitty people committed a mass suicide off the Golden Gate. It would make for a better world.

The sad part is that events in the past few years are proving that McCarthy was more right than wrong... His assertions of a 'deep state' communist infiltration of the media, the State Department and Hollywood.... were more prescient than paranoid. And, gee, who destroyed his crusade?
