Found this after watching that king snake/indigo snake vid an getting side tracked:

For those "in the know" what the heck do ya do with one of these after you catch it? Actual answers appreciated Im sure there will be a few creative ones.

That thing must not have been anywhere near the bottom when he hooked it, or no way it would come out the rocks. Those things are very very very very strong and smarter than the average 10 year old kid.

To dispatch them you put a thumb in each of it's big jets/vents, fingers on top of it's head and quickly turn them inside out. Grab hold of all the guts you see and rip them off. Thing will be dead but still strong, not as smart as it was. Take the body and scrub it good with beach sand, rinse it off and put in plastic grocery and then in the freezer for 24 hours before further prep. Freezing 1st helps break down the tissue and makes for the most tender/succulent octopus you'll ever have. Let the thing thaw and then scrub the whole thing vigorously with table salt, removing all the slime. Now boil the thing in salted water for 20 - minutes, until tender. From here you can slice paper thin and eat as sashimi with soy/lime/wasabi, or now throw pieces on the grill with teriaki sauce. All very good eats, very tender and not chewy at all.
