Im always coming on here asking for advice on gear… Ive got a Sako TRG 22 in 6.5 and a Steiner T5XI 5-25x56… It is a nice optic and Im considering putting it on my TRG- Given geographic constraints- I really dont see myself pushing 1000-1100 yards. However, I find myself wanting to upgrade and have about $800 freed up. Assuming I sell my T5 for $1300-$1500 (which seems to be what they go for)- I’d have about $2000-$2300 to play with. I am a Steiner fanboy- is the T6XI worth it over the T5- should I consider a used M7- or perhaps go down the NF route…. Ive also looked at some used S&B PMII models. But, I could instead invest the money into a spuhr mount to go with my T5 etc….

Also I should add that my T5 does not appear to have the chromatic issues or adjustment knob related issues that others did.

If your going to have that much you miswell just get a razor gen 3 brand new or one of the other 2 recommended above.

If you're happy with it, I would just keep it. Especially if money is somewhat tight.

If you do decide to upgrade, the Steiner M series is really nice. It's also hard to go wrong with S&B.

First, you may over estimate the resale value of the T5 just a bit. A few on here have sold for closer to $1100 to $1300. I’m like you as far as Steiner. I have several of those listed and although the glass is a bit better, the price difference puts a new light on things.
I have a couple of the T6’s on different guns I play with and really enjoy those. Shoot them out to 1500 yards.
Personally, unless I just wanted something new and had extra cash, I would stay with what you have if you are that happy with it. Every time I change, there’s a learning curve and you are, to some small degree starting over.
Just my 2 cents…

Some great advice here and exactly what I was looking for. The scope seems plenty capable and is the newer version of the T5 with the updated turrets. Just wasnt sure if I should use my extra cash to upgrade or to perhaps upgrade my mount or grab some extra ammo- think I have my answer….

If it were me I would just keep the scope and buy ammo and maybe a better mount and go shoot…now if you go shoot and say man if I had a better scope I could’ve hit the target more then I would upgrade but I doubt that will be the case.

Both T5's I had were some pretty bad optical abominations I've had in that price range, the T6's are worlds better. I was an early adopter with the T5's and I've heard Steiner cleaned up later scopes. In general, if you are happy with a scope, just stick with it and use the money for other things.
