Rifle Scopes Kelbys pushed me over the fence...

I would love to hear your impressions of the scope and comparisons to any others you have owned or used when you get it. I am in the process of looking for a higher end optic for a new GAP build, and like the features of the March.

I can't decide if I like the .05mrad adjustments or not.

To *truly* make use a a 40X scope, you are doing some serious ELR work, so the .05mrad clicks make sense.

However, I'll probably never reach out past 2k yards. Just don't have interest in the rifles/cartridges that can do it...

Curious to get people's thoughts on this...?

I've thought about getting a FX a few times, especially now that they are on sale.

A friend has the FX. The few things I don't like are the 5 mil knobs and the mil line numbers right off the vertical crosshair. I wish March had stayed with .1 mil adjustments and 10 mil knobs like on their 3-24. The .05 clicks are unnecessary.

5 mil knobs are a pain for ELR. I think 10 mil knobs are perfect and make the most sense seeing mils are based off 10.

"All" scope manufacturers need to quit putting those numbers close to the vertical crosshair of their reticles! I hate holding for wind and looking through a damn number!

The glass on my friends FX is the best I've seen so far, "it actually had that pop" and I've looked through all the $3000-$4000 scopes.

Will do. I have 3 S&Bs so that's all I can compare it to. One of the reasons I went with the MARCH is that I'm building a short/light &mm RSAUM and I want to save weight wherever I can. I also just wanted to see for myself how they were. I would have rather had a different reticule...but can't have everything.

Agree I prefer the 0.1 mil clicks on my 3-24 better than the 5-40 with 0.05 mil clicks. Get confused when switching between the 2 scopes, but the 40x magnification is sure great and the glass is crisp and bright. No longer need to drag a spotting scope out with me. Both have been sturdy dependable scopes with great features and reticles-available in MOA this year if you prefer. Present sale is a great time to pick up an excellent scope at a great price.

The only review I found for the hunting scope didn't show a good field of view for the scope but all the other comments were good.

I took this from the S&B and MARCH web pages. I compared the MARCH I just got with 2 of the S&Bs I have because the MARCH falls in between them as far as magnification. The 2 companys seem to be use 2 different measurements. Maybe someone can decipher them.

But I think it's obvious that the MARCH has less eye relief, right?

S&B 5-25x56 = Field of view m/100 m 5,3 - 1,5

S&B 12-50x56 = Field of view m/100 m 3,50 - 0,90

MARCH FX FFP 5-40x56 = Field of View (real) degree Low 4.0 / High 0.5

4.0 degree = 240 MOA x 1.047 in@100yds/MOA = 251.28 in@100yds / 12 in/ft = ~21ft @100yds
.5 degree = 30 MOA x 1.047 in@100yds/MOA = 31.41 in@100yds / 12 in/ft = ~2.6 ft@100yds

So converting the S&B data to yards =

5-25x56 = 17' 4" @ 109.361 yds / 4' 11" @ 109.361 yds
12-50x56 = 11' 5" @ 109.361 yds / 2' 11" @ 109.361 yds

If I did that right the MARCH field of view is not really narrower, right?

Thanks

Don't find the eye box on my 2 March scopes much different than many other scopes I have used. Seems to be more related to how well I set up the scope in relationship to a specific rifle. Can't wait to see how the BEAST I ordered compares. The only thing I do know is that it will weigh about as much as my 2 March scopes combined. I think I"ll start some weight training.
