Re: Kendall On Sharecropping Field Trip (Cursing)
As guess being a southern boy, I missed the humor....cotton is a HUGE money crop in the south, & some farmers still pay workers to pick it. A lot of schools take elementary kids on field trips to local farms....whether it's peaches, strawberries, tobacco or cotton.
It's also used as a teaching tool, to give the kids an idea of just how hard of a life early farmers had it without machinery. Apparently, some black people don't mind wearing clothing made with cotton.....but Heaven forbid their children go visit a cotton field for an educational trip........cuz, that's racist....
Whatever.....
