So ive got an issue with my 5700. When i input my values for my range etc the number is always off to a good degree. i usually shoot 600 yard (thats the max i have unfortunately) and the elevation is always about 2+ MOA off. i dont expect it to be perfect but i expect to hit a 24 inch plate at 600 yards aiming dead center. Any ideas on whats causing this? I can provide more info if needed

Alright here we go.

Zero should be good.
Bullet: 140 gn ELD-Match 6.5 Creed. (im using a caldwell chrono so its not super accurate) @ aprox 2675 FPS in a 22 inch barrel.
G1 .646
G7 .326

Not super sure how to get sight height above bore, i kinda took a ruler and measured it but my 100 yd zero is on.

It spits out a value of 12.78 MOA @ 600 yds but i know that im actually going to have to dial about 15 MOA

im shooting at a range that has me on a hill and shooting (im guessing) 5-7 degrees down so the wind may be a factor but im not sure.

Any more info needed?

Yay!
Information!

two things.
1-There’s very few chrony’s I trust and in the end trust the bullet but your speed is in a decent range.

2-I used to shoot that bullet and found that BC didn’t work for me as well.
I believe I used a G7 of .305 or .310.

I’d try the lower BC first and see if that jives with what you get from 100 to your longest range.

im shooting at a 4 inch steel plate out at 600 and in order to hit that thing im generally over 14 moa though on hot days it was around 14-14.5 moa. im developing a new load that goes faster because i can and i like speed but next time i shoot ill look. id love to have a magnetospeed but im somewhat stingy with money and im having to buy my own reloading equipment since im moving out soon. the wind might be doing something weird up at the max ordinate of the trajectory so ill look into it and record all the sweet sweet data and re post. should be a week or so. I need to check my bore height by taking off half an inch and making G7 .305 im only up to 13.7 MOA

Have you done Calc MV in the MV section of the gun profile. That is the method of truing your Kestrel to your gun. That should be the second thing you do after getting a good zero. The chrono can tell you how fast the bullet leaves the barrel, but it doesn't account for all the other things specific to you and your rifle that do show up by actual performance o the bullet. Make sure you CRUSH (YouTube KESTREL CRUSH) your kestrel before actual send a round down range.

Dry fire before you send a round down range to make sure your reticle is not moving when the trigger breaks (good habit).

CAL MV. My MV for my 22 inch Desert Tech 6.5 CREED is around 2780 with ELD-M but my dope didn’t line up with the 5700 at first (Shot it out today too)!

Calculated (trued) MV is 2870.

Give it a go and report back.

It is because G7 for this bullet is 0.291

Where are you getting that BC?

Hello, i have Kestrel 5700 elite and in my Kestrel Link Ballistics app i can find all actually measured BCs by Brian Litz and all Custom Drags and G7. So i am using it long time and i can say that it is very helpfull. Try to change BC in your ballistics app and you will sey if it is better. I am shooting 6,5x55se and 338lm to 1400 meters and it works. With regards from Czech Republic.
