Somewhat of a challenge trying to watch videos read the manual and figure out everything on how to use a Kestrel without a mentor. Thus, my question. Want to check my understanding of the WD or winddirection setting on the unit. If I am looking at my target I assume that is 12 oclock for the meter. If the wind is coming across my right shoulder to left, 3 oclock and at my back six oclock, etc. Am I thinking correct?

Your thinking correctly. Compass is calibrated yes? 3 things you should always do when using the Kestrel.
1. Capture environmental and lock it.
2. Capture DOF to target, it is the 12 o'clock as the Kestrel references it at.
3. Capture WD, whichever way it is blowing, the Kestrel will reference it in the clock method, and in your example, R to L is the 3 o'clock it was captured at.

Doing all 3 things, the Kestrel will now give you a firing solution, with wind hold, of course that is if the wind was true speed from your position all the way to target.

Further to this question.
Using the multiple target function...
Do you first
1. capture each targets range&DOF&inclination, (A thru J on the kestrel) and
2. then do 1 wind capture.
Having done both of the above steps, does the kestrel then give a firing solution for each target (ie. elevation & wind hold ) ??

Yes, that is the way it is suppose to work smokeon. Having done those captures, you then scroll through each target capture within the function for your firing solutions. Again, Asuming the wind is in that perfect condition of same angle and same speed from muzzle to the target with no other influences.

On the inclination, I do not mess with it unless I am being picky and over 10% of the angle.

Only problem is the DOF does not stabilize. It will vary while waiting to settle. I see about 18 degrees from each extreme so you just try to pick the middle. IDK of a better way.
