Kestrel won't fix 4000nv

Watch out, i tried to send my 4000nv with bluetooth in with a cracked screen for a repair and this is the response i got...

They will only trade it back for $61 or dispose of it for free or send it back.

I bet they CAN fix it they just want to sell new units. Guess its off to Ebay for another 4000nv

No, actually they can't fix it. The units are assembled to be waterproof, if you try to pull it apart to fix one thing, it's highly likely that they'll end up breaking something else. It's the same reason they couldn't fix the ones that were damaged from battery leakage.

Watch out for what? That sometimes damage is not able to be repaired? Or that they won’t send you a brand new unit for free to replace the one you broke?

They have been really good to deal with in my experience. I purchase a lot of units and we occasionally have some that have issues.... sometimes user induced others times manufacturers defects. As long as it was within the 5 year window, I never got hassled.

I believe it, thats their marketing profile. Its how they get you to keep buying the same thing over and over, but in a newer version. Suffice to say I don't want to buy one.

No dice on a 4500nv and they wont let me trade it for $61 in accessories so I'm just having them send it back. The bluetooth still works so ill use it as a backup.

The "watch out" was more of a hey they won't fix any 4000/4500 units if you pay them or not, theyll just offer you a trade credit. Crazy I can't just pay them like $30 for a new screen.
