Hey Guys.

Considering lowest price I can find for a Ruger Competition is $599 these days, is it worth buying over a Kidd classic receiver build w/ a Feddersen barrel? I've priced out the Kidd build and it's around the same price if you build w/ a BX trigger to keep it fair.

Specifically I'm looking for input on the accuracy differences between the two specified above. I've noticed many people suggest going Kidd w/ Feddersen barrel in the forums but no direct comparison to the accuracy of it vs. the Ruger Competition. I did a search and couldn't find anything. Forgive me if I missed it. Thanks

I wanted a 22lr "blaster", but am also an accuracy type person. What good is a "blaster" if you can't hit anything with it. So.....after much searching and deliberation, I built my own.

I used a Brownells 10/22 receiver, a Kidd 18" SS .920 bbl, Ruger bolt and parts kit, BX trigger and Magpul X-22 hunter stock. Came in at right around $500 for all the parts, and a little bit of time to assemble. For some reason I can't upload any pic, but this rifle will shoot under 1/4" groups at 50 yds with SK Pistol Match, and stay under 3/8" with CCI SV.

Well worth the effort for me.

Don't have any experience with Feddersen, but the 6 Kidd bbls I have experience with (mine and friends) all shoot exceptional.

I have been where you are. If you are going Kidd get the Supergrade action and barrel. You can get a complete barreled action ( without the trigger) for $600. I had a Kidd 2 stage trigger ( best 10-22 trigger made) and a Titan stock on my older 10-22. I put everything together with the Titan rear anchor. The best setup for a 10-22 IMO. If you go with the Kidd classic get their barrel I have a Ruger Target, same barrel as the Competition, shoots great, but will not touch the Kidd.
