I think so too. Destroy all state level law enforcement, breed chaos, introduce "new" federally controlled law enforcement.
It’s unfortunate more aren’t speaking up about the injustices. The thin blue line gets in the way of that I guess.
I worked in a military reserve unit which was made up of about 75% cops on the civilian side. I learned really quick that I wanted absolutely nothing to do with law enforcement.

You don't train with expensive JHP ammo. You use cheap FMJ, not just for cost but lead exposure.
The entire argument of good cops/bad cops, collapse of society/LEO, etc is not really the point.
Under the stress of combat she lost her head, and drew the wrong weapon, and didn't notice it. She did not belong on the force in the first place, and did not belong in a scrum. Someone was eventually going to get shot/killed, and damn lucky it wasn't a fellow cop. Adrenaline, tunnel vision, lack of experience and lack of drills, and a poor, inadequate mind-set all lead toward this sort of thing. Non-existant hiring standards, and political quotas, don't help, either.
I thought the following when standards were lowered in SF, Ranger, Infantry and Jump School training, and when "gender-norming" and other PC BS was introduced:

Yep, agree with all the above…I wonder if this case was to result in a hung jury then those arguing for a “not guilty” were convinced to switch via the other side inserting the possibility of riots/looting/destruction into the equation. I hope not but wouldn’t be surprised if I found that to be the case.
Either way, its a fucking shame.
I like so many others live in a rural area where there are literally a handful of cops who patrol my entire county. Response times are longer than most crimes. And isn’t it a gun rights argument “when seconds count cops are only minutes away”?
I mean the sheriff in Parkland didn’t do much for the kids getting shot. Either way, yea I do plan on handling my own. I’m the only one responsible for my safety, not any cop. And that has been upheld by the courts too by the way. Sheriff from Parkland is a great example.
I have seen cops carrying pistol grip tazers right below their duty holster. Talk about a recipe for disaster.....
Exactly, I have witnessed some of these female cops in training and during ride alongs. It is shocking. Out of 10 I’m lucky if I see one that is squared away that I’d want on my six if trouble broke out.
Question for the PD & ex-PD members here: how much situational force-on-force live fire (FMJ and/or sims) does the average "community" patrol/street deputy get before actually being assigned duty and how much continuing practice training in it to they receive thereafter when working? In places where inadequate, is reluctance to require this training for fear of accidents, or more related to funding and hence worsened by the "defunding crisis"?

No, I'm not. There are plenty of people with plenty of skills to make controlling this country impossible by a central government.

I can argue for and against the jury verdict, but I think the a previous poster had it right about following jury instructions. I'm not a lawyer, but from what I've heard, the manslaughter 1 encompasses reckless endangerment, and includes reckless handling of a firearm. 26 years of everyday carry and over 1000 hours of training probably convinced the jury that she didn't take sufficient responsibility for a deadly weapon. I'm not a cop, but I've heard from a few of them that some cops only handle their guns when they have to shoot quals. Like another previous poster suggested, this was a diversity hire who never consider the possibility of having to make a life-or-death decision, and didn't TRAIN for it.
I was at a qual for a small agency once. It was a shocking experience.

There is a reason for that - civilian on civilian violence has a tendency to devolve into very negative overall outcomes when adopted as a general policy. See Somalia.
Part of the communist attack on our school systems AND our criminal justice system comes from the creation of an under-policing situation.
This is where petty crime committed more or less on accident by the mostly innocent is raised to the level of persecution, and career criminals get a hall pass almost instantly for major crimes.
Add in some identity politics, toss out all property crimes that are the stock in trade of career criminals, and legalize some drugs.
If I were Russian or Chinese and was told to destroy America I would consider it my masterpiece. I would walk around in a smug self-satisfied trance while waving orchestra conductor wands at the news media feeds.
This entire situation is planned. Our policing in the US is generally fantastic and well matches the caliber and consistency of criminals in the US, the level of small arms present, and the level of violent offenders.

Suffice to say, the American judicial system is more screwed up, now, than ever before. It's clear, the leftist/Soros backed prosecutors are wreaking havoc and LEOs are being persecuted. The behavior of LEOs, are simply a reflection of the society they police. I can only imagine the daily stress of LEOs, like Kim Potter, especially in those more liberal parts of the country. The left is setting up LEOs for failure by encouraging immoral/lawless behavior in society. Then, when LEOs act, they prosecute/persecute the LEOs. We have a huge problem, but bad acting LEOs are a symptom, not the disease. The intent of the left is not to coexist, or meet in the middle. The left seeks to steal, kill and destroy. We are seeing the rapid degradation of our society and it will not stop, until a vast majority of Americans choose to return to values and morals, our nation was founded on.
If you watched the police arresting singing Christians for the crime of having an outdoor worship service as CLEARLY guaranteed by the 1st amendment, while encouraging BLM Rioters to run rampant, and didn't realise right then and there that we need to start completely over from scratch and decide if we really want this police thing...
If you watched DeBullyo personally lead his police "force" in reenacting the SS attacking Jewish synagogues and weddings, while begging the BLM rioters to burn down the retail districts, and didn't think that well fuck if this is the police let's start over with a better system...
That's before we get to watching the horrors of the Police going full on evil all around the world, NOT just "a few bad apples" but the entire departments and "forces" reveling in brutal tyranny...
It's hard to have much sympathy for the police claiming their job is so hard, when all you see when you turn on the TV is criminals being allowed and encouraged to run rampant while the police gladly oppress and brutalize the law-abiding citizens, at the behest of their tyrannical paymasters.
You start to thinking that perhaps if enough of them get prosecuted, maybe just maybe they would think twice about their brutality when they come to oppress you, even if you happen to have light skin colour and the people they mostly get prosecuted for doing things to happen to have dark skin.
The police and those that still worship them, need to clearly understand that what the police did in 2020 and 2021 all around the world, permanently made anyone with eyes wide open, understand the concept of police "forces" on the whole, has become more dangerous to liberty than it is useful and the whole thing needs to start over with a system where those who are paid to help keep law and order, are much more directly under the control of the citizens and directly and personally held responsible, with no "just following orders" or paymasters that turn into tyrants, or the taxpayers being made to pay for the misdeeds of the police.
I strongly suspect that 2022 is going to be even worse as the tyrants use the "police forces" as their private oppression armies as we move into the next phase of the great leap backwards into Feudalism.
I've been a LEO and I definitely don't worship them. One of the reasons I left, is because of so many bad apples and that was 25 years, ago. More and more of the good people in LE are exiting the field, because they refuse to "follow orders." It won't be long, before all that remain, are the tools of tyranny.

He was also dope dealer and habitual poacher. He never forgot a slight or joke about him and vowed to arrest all those that had previously made fun of him and didn't respect his authority.
One of his skinny fellow high school ectomorph losers once threw a temper tantrum at a bar, The Broken Spoke in S. Austin, when people were making fun of his Barney Fife ways after he joined a small town police dept. He stormed out with his beer bottle, got in his Trans AM intending on throwing the bottle back at us and spray gravel in a dramatic exit. Only problem was, in his drunken state he didn't realize his driver side window was up and proceeded to smash the half empty bottle on the inside of his car. That pissed him off worse and he roared down S. Lamar cussing and crying, stopping long enough to empty his .38 S&W backup revolver he was carrying out of his now shattered window into the side of a dumpster LOL.
Those degenerate losers had a list of people to harass and they made sure everyone else in their departments had a copy.

Very true! I was my class president and my job was to monitor my classmates. When they allowed a cheater to graduate, was my first inkling something wasn't right in the LE world. Also, I didn't have the correct mindset, so I got out. I have a short tolerance for certain types of bullshittery.
1. Case specific: No matter the resistance of the guy, she fired the wrong weapon. Incompetence on her part and rightly convicted of negligent homicide. She should have known what weapon she pulled.
2. General stuff going forward: She was unfit for duty and should not have been a training officer. We gotta keep standards high, but we can't find enough officers to staff departments. We can have all the training programs and practice in the world, but understaffed departments cannot add in training days that take away from patrol. So one of my conclusions is BLM and post-Floyd groups fail to understand police work, but also fail to account for the number of calls for service for predominantly minority houses and neighborhoods.
3. The victim did not deserve to die for his resistance, yet I would tell young people that they take the risk when resisting. If you want to live the bandit, thug, and outlaw life, you assume the risk of being killed by anyone on the street that attempts to stop you, whether it is accidentally or not. Her behavior ended it, but his behavior started it as an aggressor -- not to the level where deadly force was justified, but it is a learning lesson for criminals no matter their race.
4. But race specific, African American houses and neighborhoods appear to, in general, praise resistance to "the man," "white people," and "the police." Fighting is a viable option, running away, struggling to even do something simple like show identification. That is a learned behavior. And BLM types do not accept responsibility for policing themselves first.

My best friend/hunting buddy (read brother) is a LEO Sergeant. As a civil libertarian myself, who supports proper policing, we often have differing views on these matters.

Actually, LEO are held to a higher standard, than us peasants, because they are the trained professionals... or that's the theory.
I honestly don't know how a lot of them pass psych evals. I know some very unstable LEOs.
What about the cop that recently shot some handicapped shoplifter in a wheelchair multiple times in the back including an anchor shot to make sure he went home safe that night? And his fellow cop that also had his gun trained on the victim when both of those turds could have easily grabbed the wheel chair handles and said 'Whoa, grandpa.'
