Ihave a Kimber Classic Stainless LE and was reading a post over in the classifieds who said that some of the early Clackamas Kimbers might have been stamped Yonkers and that when they built the LE's they didn't have any stainless external parts, (grip safety, thumb safety, slide lock, etc.).

My question is could it be possible that I have a Clackamas built Kimber? The serial number is below 18800.

Thanks

Re: Kimber question

All of the Clackamas guns were built in Yonkers save maybe the first one. The only reason the first 7000 or so are stamped Clackamas is ATF red tape. If you are in the 18xxx then you are about 11000 older than the last one stamped Clackamas.

Re: Kimber question

No 1911s were ever made in Oregon at all.

There is no rational basis for the market's premium for an Oregon roll mark.

I've owned two older Kimbers and I guarantee you that both were just as nice as any Oregon marked one.
