Knights SR-15 LPR (light precision rifle)

I was curious if anyone has had a chance to play with one of these Knights SR-15 LPR (light precision rifle) and how accurate they really are thanks. I just bought an sr-25 ecc and still waiting but super excited about it wanted to know about the lpr kinda go with the knights set.

Haven't shot one but I am guessing they will be impressive. I've been trying to find some reviews will little luck but what a great looking rifle.

I've had two in my store so far. Still have one left and its on gunbroker. I am really tempted to find a way to take it home because I have turned into a Knights freak. They come with factory test targets which are impressive. I am fond of the URX 3s and 3.1 rails which these have. Still haven't shot one but the customer who bought our first one is going to report back on how it does.

FYI We have noticed that they really seem to like Federal 77gr stuff.

I bought a ton of different ammo to try with them, and the best commercially available ammo we found was the Federal.

Admittedly I'm not a big 18" 5.56mm fan, and for the OP if you already have an ECC, then why get this gun?

I'll have one..... I was going to pre-order one a few months ago but have a couple to many irons currently in the fire. If it shoots anywhere near good as the SR15 Match rifle I had before then it'll be a hit. The Match rifle was $2k several years ago and the E3 LPR version is just a few hundred more with more options, I says it's a deal!

MSRP is $2,457.50.
They are back ordered, I think we shipped 75 last month, so I'm surprised they are going for less, but I guess many dealers are trying to move guns than make nice stack on the wall...

The handstop is the 4" Hanstop Panel mounted to the lower rail, that particular piece is not sold separately but part of the panel kits mentioned above.

I have an ECC and with a low powered variable scope there is nothing it can't do as compared to the LPR with a greater effective range as well.

I have a 14.5" with a 1-4 and an ECC with a 1-6; an 18" 5.56 wouldn't find much use for me.

KAC has stated they do not prefer switch blocks - as in the field they are easily forgotten to switch over. Also - since their guns are tuned to run on full powered ammo; not every brand of cheap commercial shit, the amount of excess gas during suppressed fired isn't as bad as with other guns with larger gas ports.

As far as pistons go; I doubt you'd ever see a KAC gun with one - outside of testing prototypes. They've said in the past that they find piston setups unnecessary in all but one very particular scenario - for which they built the PDW, and HK the 416 etc. For everything else, their E3 bolt and other enhancements increase the reliability of the DI system sufficiently without introducing all the negative aspects of using a piston.

I'm really not sold on the 18" gun, to me unless you have an ammunition interchangeability requirement the 16" ECC in 7.62mm does everything and more than the 5.56mm LPR -- the LPR edges it in accuracy, but longer range performance especially terminally and barrier penetration goes to the 7.62mm gun.
I sold all my SPR type guns when I got my ECC.

I'd love an ECC. But they run twice as much as LPRs, so my bank account made the choice for me. My LPR arrived about a month ago. I've had it out once and I was able to get about 1" groups at 50 yds with irons. It was in the 40s and windy and I was a bit under-dressed for it. I have some Herter's .223 underpowered ammo and surprisingly the LPR cycles it better than my BCM/Spikes midlength. I have mostly Federal 55 gr FMJ and X-TAC M855. I just happen to have some Herter's and wondered how it would fair in the KAC. I'll grab some 77 gr Federal when I can find it.

Got a mod 1 on order as well (from the group buy)... My SR-15 e3 mod 0 is a joy to shoot. KAC did a extremely nice job with these guns. I'm curious to see what groups I can squeeze out of the mod 1 with hand loads... if she's MOA @ 100, I'll be pumped.

I have an LPR waiting for me at my local dealer, just need to find the time to pick it up. I am a big fan of the 18 barrel. It is long enough to provide good velocity on varmints out to 400 yards and beyond, but short enough to be handy, even when suppressed. Perfect all around rifle for my part of South Dakota. I have been shooting a MK12 mod 0 clone I built for years, and can't wait to give this new KAC a shot.

I just ran some Southwest remanufactured 77 grain and the LPR really liked it. Kept most just under 1 moa with some 1/2 moa groups. I was happy as the 2.5-10 NF isn't the best sope to try and shoot groups with. If any of you have this rifle try some of this ammo. I think you will be happy for the price.

the SR15 LPR is damn accurate. I've seen user reports of .50MOA at 100yards

Mine has a NP3 WMD replacement carrier. The factory BCG I got with mine didn't come with a HC BCG. I really like it. I also have an EMC and like it too. I just like the option of picking off pigs close up with the 223. I also take the EMC invade something pops up long range. I was running a 1.5-6 Elcan but have a CQBSS headed this way!! Can't wait!! I just like the idea of having 7.62 and 223 precision!!

I am bringing this one back up from the dead. I am in the market for a 5.56 AR based rifle to teach my girls how to shoot centerfire. I need an AR that is geared towards accuracy more than anything.

Anyone have any solid accuracy reports (not just single good groups) with these LPR's?

I have had my LPR for almost a year and you will not be disappointed. It reinstated my hope for semi auto that will shoot like a bolt gun. Mine is a LASER. Ive shot under an inch at 300 yards with it. It will drive tacks at 100. Granted I broke mine in and believe it helped but others would think that's BS.

Owner of both the mod 1 and LPR... The mod 1 is light, extremely reliable and has been a solid 1-1.5 moa gun ( I have done some load testing with 69 SMK's and squeezed out .7 & .8 moa groups). My LPR has been a hammer. Best group was in .3's! I've stretched her out to 600 meters with consistent hits on a 9"x13" ipsc. I had good results out to 800 m as well (hence the reason why I'm switching to 75 bthp's or 77 SMK's). Regardless, both are premier ar-15 builds. Extremely soft shooting, great machining, ambi lowers, nice 2 stage trigger and in my case, very accurate.


As Texasmade stated, I had about 200 rds down the tube (on the LPR), wasn't overly impressed with it (moa gun). Decided to give it a good cleaning (swipe the bores, wet/dry patches, etc..) and the groups shrunk in half. Since then, it has become my go to 5.56 platform.

The ECC has the newer URX 3.1, the newer 45 degree irons, and the newer flash hider, all of which can be changed on an EMC. In fact, Kevin bought his rifle as EMC and changed the handguard around.

Kevin did tell me the gas port is a bit larger on the ECC to allow function across a wider spectrum of ammo.

I will put on a MAMS and the 45 offsets. That's it.

I've had some time behind one and they shoot great with 77gr ammo from SW.
Shoots just as good as my Mk12 by High Caliber.
Either one of these guns would be a great choice. I like the barrel better on the Mk12 though.

Is mine considered a " Light Precision Rifle"? It weighs exactly 11 pounds as you see it with a loaded 20 round magazine. This target was shot at 100 yds. with Sierra 65 gr. Game Kings to foul the barrel and sight in the scope. The second group was with 69 gr. Sierra Match Kings. which was smaller than the first group.
