Trying to 'sniperize' my old Mauser Oviedo 308 I'm planning to get a scout mount and pistol scope. Konus looks interesting so any info most welcome of user of this scope and suggestions also wanted. Thanks beforehand, THUD.-

I don't have the 2-8 version of the scope, but I do own a Konus M30 and it's a fairly nice scope for the money (I paid $250 from an outfit on e-bay). The scope I have is their 4.5-16x40 and I use it for my 22LR. The glass is VERY good for the price range IMHO, and the knobs / clicks are very solid. Eye relief is decent; however, the eyebox could be a bit bigger at 16x. The major shortcomming of the scope (IMHO) is that it is only offered with 1/8 MOA clicks. It would be near perfect at that price with 1/4 MOA clicks... or perfect with 1/10 mil clicks (to match the standard MD reticle.

I haven't had any experience with their pistol scopes, but I've heard many rave reviews of their spotters (again when price is factored in). I plan to pick one up in the near future.

I was getting into a Scout CZ22 project and dug up some interesting info regarding the differences between "Scout" scopes and pistol scopes.

My intent was to go as cheap as possible considering it was for a 22lr wabbit wifle, all of the "Scout" scopes I found cost more than the rifle it was going on so I looked at maybe a cheap pistol scope.

What I found was that "Scout" scopes have eye relief between 8-15" depending on the make (Burris scout is 8.5-14). Pistol scopes have considerably more at 11-24".

Most Scout rifles are set up with the eye releif between 8-10" so more often than not the pistol scopes dont work as well for scout applications.
