KRG chassis systems

So based on the recommendations I got here, I used a KRG Bravo for my 223 budget build. I could not be happier. Thanks guys.

Which leads to my next questions....
KRG makes some higher end chassis. If a guy wanted to build a rifle, (6.5/308 class) would they be a viable option? As in, will they compete with some of the higher end stuff, or are you selling yourself short and be left wanting for more?

The Whiskey 3 is a top tier chassis. There may be others that are just as good, but I doubt you could call them better. It really just boils down to the specific features that are important to you. The large number of accessories available for the KRG chassis make it easy to customize to your individual likes and needs. I Have been very satisfied with mine.

I've owned a few in the past (Bravo, X-Ray, Whiskey3), and have been happy with all of them. I only sold them because I went full AI. That having been said, I'm looking to pick up a Vudoo in the not too distant future (and selling off most everything else except for the AI and AR to afford it, haha), and am debating if I want to get an AICS AT chassis for it so it's an exact match to my AI, or if I want to get a KRG chassis for a few hundred less and call it done. Any of them will get the job done and (in my opinion) are comfy, and as noted above, are almost fully modular. Hard to go wrong with that!

Is your .223 a trainer rifle? Just my opinion, but if your .223 is a trainer, why not go with the Bravo on your 6.5/.308? Seems you’d want the same chassis, same feel and function on both.

Not an AI chassis, the AI system. I sold my other rifles in favor of an AIAT. I realize that while there are a few very limited aftermarket chassis options to put a de-bonded AI action in, I'm not going to de-bond a $4K rifle from it's chassis. So in a way, yes, I went with the AI chassis over other options, but ONLY because of how the entire system works together.

In reality, I'm a stock guy. If I could put my AIAT action into a McMillan A5 or Manners PRS1 and still have the same level of bomb-proof performance and reliability, I'd seriously consider it. They feel better and fit better to me. BUT, I have no qualms with the AI chassis at all, and will happily use it in order to retain all of the other benefits I feel the AI action/system possesses.

In terms of aftermarket chassis for a 700 clone however, I think my top favorite was the JAE-700 (which I got a really good deal on), followed immediately by KRG's offerings (with the Whiskey3 being at the top, of course). I don't know that I want to spend $1500+ on another chassis for a Vudoo action when a Whiskey3 at almost half the price will do the same job at less weight and with nearly the same level of comfort. If money grew on trees, I might sing a different tune, but for an affordable chassis sytem, I personally feel the KRG offerings are the best thing out there based on what I've used (allow me to state that I haven't used everything).

I have a KRG Xray chassis I swap back and forth between ln my 6.5x47 and 223 and both rifles are very accurate in it.

I have a couple Whiskey 3's currently that I've had for awhile and have had many more (W3 and Bravo's) in the past. They are A+ in my book, same with the company themselves. There are other great chassis and stocks on the market but every time I've tried something for one reason or another, I've always ended up back with KRG.

I'm contemplating a KRG Whiskey 3 and was curious about the knobs that secure the cheek piece and butt pad. Any issues with these coming undone in a match or other hard use? I have an MPA BA that I really like but am certainly willing to try a KRG. Does KRG have a bag rider available?

The cheek riser and and length of pull knobs hold fine. No problems over a year of match competitions. KRG offers two optional bag riders.

There is no special action for the .224V, guys are running them through actions such as the Bighorn using a 6.8SPC bolt head.

to answer OP question. KRG = good to go like everyone else said. if it fits your budget and you like how it feels. i had a xray. didnt love it but didnt hate it either

I am getting Bugholes to build me a 224 V on a Bighorn action. Since I didn't realize you can use the Remington pattern, I ordered a chassis from XLR who never told me its the same as a Remington 700 ... but then I didn't know to ask either.

None. Have a special and diamond on a Stiller Tac30 and Bighorn Origin without any interference issues.

Thanks for fast reply. Posted an inquiry in the gunsmithing sub section, but tried to put together a Curtis Vector, TT diamond, and Whiskey 3 (gen 6) this weekend and unfortunately the trigger bar gets pinned between chassis and action and can't be moved.

Got a call into KRG to see what's what regarding a recommendation, but some local colleagues in PRS forum said TT triggers generally require some small fittings. First time I've heard that personally.

It's a tolerance stacking problem that many have had to deal with for years, long before Trigger Tech's were on the market. I've had to make relief cuts for Timney's, Jewells, and so on.

It's really not a big deal and may not be the last time you'll have to do it. Just Dremel a small relief cut until everything functions.

On my Gen 6 I had to remove a lot of material for the safety on my Diamond.

Checking back in on this. FWIW, I ended up putting a Nucleus action and TT into the Whiskey 3, everything fit just fine, no relief needed. Something about the combo of the vector and TT.

I'm not sure how I missed this thread. Thank you guys for your business and kind words! Right now I think the only triggers that don't fit without major surgery are the Tubb one and anything with a trigger hanger but there's so many now.

Also, @chrome that quote in your sig line, that is from a legit SOF guy. He's a buddy of ours. Not sure if he was being serious or not, or knows something I don't know, haha.

I picked up a wiskey 3 in the PX. I was able to take it out today. I've very happy with it. The people I shoot with have never used a chassis before. Three people between 4'10" and 6' even where able to set the LOP and cheek riser to fit them comfortable in less time for me to write this. +1 on the wiskey!

I've got 4 Whiskey 3 Chassis. One LA and the rest are SA. Only one is being used...still waiting for parts for the other rifles. Also got 2 Bravos. Love these Chassis'.

I just bought my smiths personal surgeon match rifle in a whisky 3 and it has a trigger tech in it and I don’t think he had to do anything
