Just looking for feedback on which one you prefer. I believe AX new style with skeletonize stock coming out soon. Should i jump on gen 4 krg now or wait for AX? Just sold my SA ax yesterday coz im building long action now, so i do have experience on AX but not on KRG on those who has or tried both which has better feeling on palm?
Tnx

Must be hard to choose:)
here lets make it litle better

Where did you get that top picture of the new AX? That looks like a USMC M40A3/5 in the new AX. Wonder if the USMC will be ditching the A4 soon. Sorry no help on the stock, I have always like AI stuff but everyone seems to like KRG too. Probably can't go wrong with either.

I'd give the edge to the AX simply on the right side folding aspect, it's about the only significant advantage I can see between one or the other that isn't strictly aesthetics/personal preference.

I see the same way.. and having 30" barrel the long action ax with 16" handguard bipod far forward will help balance rifle

It would come down to cost diff for me.

The AX has started to grow on me a bit.

Ill try brake what ive learn about them so far..
Both adj check butt and swivel butt pad. Ax lock on right (you can leave bolt on when packing in case) its a plus
Krg 1299.00 no mag. With uics mag id say 1380.00+-.
Ax 1393.00 with mag (acc to MHS)
So price not much..

While I like the KRG (buddy has one), but I think the evolutionary improvements made to the AX chassis make it the one I'd choose. Like said already not a lot of significant difference between them but perhaps the grip angle may be somthing to consider when comparing ergo's.

I like both chassis, lean a bit more towards the AI but.......... Maybe not a consideration for most folks but may be for some is the mounting height of the scope on the AI. Otherwise it seems to be an over all toss up for most buyers. Esthetics is a major player but you have to be comfortable behind no matter what you buy. I did call the KRG a chassis even though in my eyes it's more of a traditional stock. The AI is still a love / hate for people but it comes down to personal comfort.

Food for thought.

I have 2 KRG w3 they are awesome, but I really like the look of the new AX. Does anyone have prices on them? Non folding though as I live in Australia and it is illegal here to have folders.

Yeah it folds and works with the AI. Not so sure if would fold and work with Rem or other clone actions. side note, I need to check out that 338 double stack mag they got going on

Im kinda aware of that too the ai(badger) action has angled bolt which barely clears the compartment.. im thinking those straight down bolt with large knob like surgeon bighorn etc miyt not work.. then theres no sense stock fold the opposite if i still need to remove bolt when packing rifle

Danny at Delta Tactical down in Victoria will more than likely be the go-to guy for getting these in Australia. He brings in the current AX chassis alongside the W3 so I'd suggest giving him a call to get his thoughts on each chassis. He also attended SHOT recently so he would have had a look at the updated AX and the new AT chassis also Toni.

Kris I spoke to him today about some scopes etc, also the new AX he doesn't have prices yet but he is onto it will look real nice with my new Stiller spectre action and Maddco barrel. I will PM you later on some things I found out.

I know I'm late to the party, but I have some thoughts on the two...

KRG W3C - is a Sako TRG chassis for the Rem 700. It's all identical from rear end compatibility, grip angles, etc. So, you're basically asking Sako vs AI for ergos. You will receive no correct answer. It's all personal preference. KRG did a good job on their chassis, it's nice gear, not perfect, but very nice. I don't however think it's as "finished" as the AI AX. I'd certainly keep an eye on KRG though.

It interesting that some people willingly complain about thumbhole on AI's old chassis, but the Sako TRG folding and by extension KRG's rear gets a pass. Must be because it's just a very large thumbhole?

The New 2014 style AX looks good. But I'm not convinced that even 5% of the people that own them actually need top or side rails. I'd love to see AI keep the AX, lose the tube, extended their handguard out a little and bring in the new AT's NV rail.

Now, for the OP.... I'd run neither with a 30" barrel, because really I'd probably never run a 30" barrel ;) Seems to me that's a benchrest rifle and would probably be fine with a benchrest stock. Between the two asked about, 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other. See if you can get your hands on one.

Fwiw, I have some gripes on the W3C, I'd like to see a couple of things changed. But I think KRG has some real traction with their new Xray. Not for OP, not for 30" barrel (as it would be stupid front heavy), but in terms of marketing, and carving out a niche, I think they're on to something. Esp when you consider a B&C, and bottom metal, is practically the same price as the XRay chasis, that's a no brainer.
