Can you confirm if the magwell on the W3-Pro is aluminum and integrated into the forend, or if it is a separate polymer piece.
The "PRO" website says its mag well is (at least partially) polymer
  • Large polymer mag well surround can be adjusted fore & aft for better mag fitment.
  • W3 Pro has monolithic aluminum backbone/forend with poly mag well screwed on.
  • W3 Pro mag well is much more robust than the standard W3 Gen 7.

Front end and the shroud now available.

Weird. With the new forend, they seem to have gotten rid of the supremely comfortable design for the hand that their Arca aluminum forend has.

With the latter, the way it flares out eliminates the Arca bit from cutting into your hand.

That’s so you can add the external weights for an additional cost, “it’s a feature.”
Ewwww you’re right! Wait, the C-4 is different than the Pro front end. Don’t see the weights for the Pro…unless they are cross-compatible.

I guess it’s a comp chassis and they haven’t discontinued the regular Arca aluminum forend. Whatever. 🤷‍♂️

I do like the magwell design, though.

You animal! 😂
Agreed. What you should actually use is one of these.

These bits are what I used to lefty convert my MDT XRS for my T1X.

Used black nail polish to cover it up.

Even fancier version tool (the buy once cry once) is a Nakanishi im-301 with a ih300 head. Pneumatic. Cost is crazy but amazing to use. Have one at work.

Air tools are usually cooler to use. Like, not temp-wise, more like “just cooooollll brah” 😎

Too bad you need a huge, 240v, and well-made compressor to really use them to their potential. 😢

I was going to buy said compressor and upgrade my garage power but then the battery-powered tools started working better and getting smaller.

I just bought a little Milwaukee battery-powered right angle die grinder. Haven’t used it yet.

True for the 1/4 die grinders. I can occasionally run mine for a few minutes off my 30 gallon craftsman.

The nakanishi doesn't require much air. 2.65cfm@65psi.

Little disappointed with the bridge on the new Pro forend. The pic rail puts it all way higher than previously for clip on use. It's so high in fact i needed to shave the rail down a little to get the bell to clear. Rings are 1.5" for reference.

The new Pro forend is great otherwise. It's exactly what the W3 has been needing. But I'll wait for a bridge with built in pic rail thats lower before switching the rest of my W3s out.

Can you confirm what material the mag well piece is made of, and whether it is removable or not? If it's polymer and removable, there's hope for an aluminum or other future options for swapping out the mag well then. Thanks in advance!

It's polymer and removable. Id prefer one without the silly barricade stop in the future myself as it just looks funky and I don't shoot PRS any longer.
