Krieger AR Barrel used question

I didn't want to post this in the exchange yet since I'm not sure if I'm going to sell it yet, so please forgive me if I am posting a thread like this in the wrong place. if need be I can post it in the exchange, I just don't want to break any rules, so please correct me if needed.

I have a used Krieger Barrel off a dpms style 308 build that I was thinking of parting out and was wondering if was even worth putting up forsale to get some money back out of it, since I don't shoot it much but dont want to lose a bunch of money off of it.

I had Krieger barrels, custom make the barrel for me
I have about 130ish rounds through it.
18" 5r rifleing
Fluted
Stainless steel
308 Obermayer chamber which shoots 308 and 7.62x51
Current price that Krieger would charge to make a barrel like this is $845 after shipping before tax.

My Question for you guys are; have you sold anything like this used and what the going rate has been for custom Barrels like this? I've done the forum search but most sales I've seen have been for None custom barrels.

I would start at $400 maybe? Used barrels, especially one someone can’t put a borescope down are going to lose a ton of value...on top of that it is custom.

Never Hurts to list it, you can always find a buyer if the price is right.

I'd start at 400 and expect to be talked down lower, market for used barrels is pretty low

This. I would not buy a used AR barrel and expect a high level of precision. Regardless of who made it.

If given the option between your barrel for $400 and a new Craddock Bartlien for $650, I’m picking the new one every time.

My recommendation is to keep it and see if you can repurpose it.

Agreed but reputation here means a lot I think. There are many members I have dealt with here that I wouldn’t doubt for a second. I’m glad there is now a feed back section even though I don’t have a lot of it.

But once again agreed with the hundred down the tube and shoots 1/4 moa all day long tack driver sales pitch should bring up some red flags. That and if 90% + posts are in the BST.

I’m not implying you, but somebody can do more than a few mag dumps in 130 rounds. That barrels is clearly not a mag dump barrel, but there are plenty of people, like my brother, who orders a custom WOA SS barrel and then proceeds to beat the shit out of it immediately, despite my recommendations (he now accepts that higher-end chrome lined barrels are better suited to his uh, “shooting style”).

Just pointing out another data point people may, or may not, worry about when considering used precision barrels.

Is this an attack on me? I'm not making any claims or Lying, I haven't even posted the barrel in the exchange, I haven't made any moa claims about it or sale s pitches, I was just asking questions. I was just looking at possible ways to possibly fund a lighter weight rifle because lugging around a heavy rifle up and down hills sucks.

Only a dumbass"not implying your brother"would be doing mag dumps on a Krieger precision rifle build. I get your point though

Sorry, I didn't mean you were implying anything, I was just joking about the "only about a hundred rounds" description which sounds equal to "driven by a little old lady only to church on Sundays".

In all honesty, used premium barrels at best get half price (usually 1/3 or less) of the market rate, whether it's 300 or 3,000 rounds.

I was not trying to attack either. Apologies if it seemed that way. It’s just that most of the for sales ads list a lot of the same commonalities 100 rounds, 1/4 moa etc.

Heck to be honest I was thinking of pming you about the barrel. If I didn’t have a Bartlein coming back soon I’d be super interested especially if it was 6mm. It’s hard to find a ready to go top notch cut rifled barrel. I think you may be able to sell it for $400 but be prepared for a ton of questions and low ball offers. Some sample targets might help too.

The same thing with my response. Our point was, in general, many people lie about round counts, how they treated the barrel, and/or it doesn’t shoot, just to offload them. We all assume that when we see a used, precision barrel for sale. We aren’t saying your lying, we’re just stating what pops in our head. It’s a hard sale.

If you have a good shooting barrel, keep it, build it out again later on, as funds allow. Always good to have a precision blaster around.
