I just purchased a Kuiu Venture 2300, and I bought their rafle carrier, the mounting options don't seem to work with this pack. Have others figured this out?

I will call them this week and inquire, but it looks like the mounting options on the sides will not work with the included rifle carrier.

    Mounts ok here.

Is the new rifle carrier adjustable for the buttstock? I have an older versions and I’m not sure the rifle with an EH1 will fit in it. I will know tomorrow when my stock gets here. I have had good luck with their rifle carrier. I think seansmd has you lined out.

So how do you guys like this type of rifle carrier? I have been thinking on changing up to a better pack but its always been an issue figuring out the best way to carry a heavy rifle.

Kuiu has two options the quick disconnect if you are a hunter and need to draw quickly from the pack. I originally picked this, and it has more limited options for mounting. I switched for the standard setup. Both have the ability to carry on the side or the middle of the back of the pack. They both have the ability to adjust the stock vertically for longer rifles and tighten it up for shorter rifles. The adjustments give you the ability to snug it up to the pack and not have it move around, but still get to it quickly. The pack I have is not a framed pack, it is a day pack with an internal light frame, and I don't hunt so don't have a comment on extended carry. My RPR fits, and with the pack loaded is suitable to carry for my needs, to and from shooting positions where the hard case is not suitable.

p.s. They have some good videos on the quick release and mounting if you are interested, goodle Kuiu rifle holder and the vids will show up.

Thanks for the info. I will take a look.

The Kuiu rifle carrier is only made to work on the Ultra and Icon pack lines, not the Venture. You might be able to make it work but that's what they state on their site,"Your weapon can be mounted in any direction on either side or back of the bag and is designed to fit both the ULTRA and ICON Pack Lines."

Funny thing is that it doesn't say the same in the description of the "quick draw" version, but the mounting looks the same so I'd imagine the statement still applies. They need to fix their description.

I actually called them and they said it works with all including the Venture, I think the Venture might be newer?

Look closely on their site, the top of the straps on the QD version has straps with closed loops and no HW for clipping to the pack loops. You need to buy their hip belt straps to mount the stock pocket. The top strap also does not have a clip in the middle, it has the HW on each end, and a hole in the middle to snake your muzzle through, a suppressor would not fit through.

The non-QD version top strap has the HW on each end, and the clip in the middle, and the stock pocket has HW at the ends to connect to the pack.

Looking at this it looks like it should fairly easily be adaptable to other brands of packs, as long as the have 2 lower compression straps and at least 1 horizontal strap. There aren't any proprietary clips or anything is there?

No, as long as there are loop options on the pack to connect to you should be GTG.

I will take a picture with my RPR loaded when I get the non-QD version.

Have you tried it with your rpr in the middle of your pack for better balance?
Yes, have since moved to a new gun, center is more balanced for sure. They advertise this position to be able to detach and use your rifle without removing the pack.

Thank you. I am trying to decide between this pack and the slightly smaller mystery ranch mule. The mule has a load sling built in and a external frame, but the kuiu is lighter and a larger pack. I am planning to do the mammoth sniper challenge this year in the regular division, so only need the days supplies and no overnight gear. However, I may in the future do the tough man division and need 3 days worth of gear.

well both will allow you to change the pack out. but one is light (kuiu) and the other not as you get into the big ones. a friend just got the ultra 5500 for mammoth next year
