Hi everyone. I have up for sale a beautiful & capable thermal unit, the L3 CRATOS. This is an incredible little thermal. Super lightweight and has a lot of features, like auto nuc and color screen. White Hot, Black Hot or Multi-Color, and it's 640 x 480 17 µm with 60 Hz frame rate.
First, let’s get the bad stuff out of the way:
I purchased this unit last year here on Snipers Hide and was lied to and scammed by the seller. He ended up stealing some money from me, failing to send me the remote pressure switch and the manual, and deceived me about the condition of the picatinny mount.
What this means, is that the unit itself is 100% working condition, and performs great. However, I don’t have the remote pressure switch or the rubber eye cup. The picatinny mount is also slightly damaged where the locking lever on the larue mount has been broken off. What this means is that the picatinny mount mounts just fine but when you push in the larue lever to “lock” it for extra piece of mind, it’s not actually locking the lever in place. That said, the mount is so snug and tight that I don’t think you’d ever need this … but full disclosure.
I have not tried to contact L3 to get a new mount or a paper copy of the manual, but I assume this could be done without too much trouble.
I do have a PDF copy of the manual that I can provide to the buyer.
Alright, so now that we’re done with the caveats, on to the good stuff:
This unit is really amazing. It’s barely bigger than a Skeet, but with a few awesome features that the BAE units don’t have like a color screen, auto-gain and auto NUC. It works great as a handheld where it flips the screen so the controls are ergonomically in your grip. And then it really shines as a clip-on in front of a LPVO.
I had seen a photo of a devgru operator using this as a clip on in front of their mil-spec 1-8 NF ATACRs and that’s how I chose to run it as well. It’s an extremely capable setup. Horta also has some great reviews and information on the unit if you search through the Hide archives.
It’s got some surface wear on the ruggedized coating, I believe it’s cerakote over anodize, but other than that, no damage to speak of. It’s been really good battery life for me and does not have any parasitic drain. It’s pretty much what you’d expect from a modern 640x mil thermal.
Please check out the pictures and if you have any other questions please let me know.
Asking $8500 shipped.
