Labradar and suppressor

If that doesn't work, some have had to add the archery or airgun trigger mic to get a read. I haven't tried it yet (waiting on a suppressor), but I think it is pretty much a guaranteed fix for suppressor triggering issues.

I had to put mine 6 or so inches in front of the can and a few inches to the the side to pick up shots.
Once I did it worked. Never tried the mic attachment.
That being said, I went back to using my magnetospeed to chrony my suppressed rifles.
On another note, I have seen them work very well for guys using them during an f clsss match on a rifle without a can. They worked well for that application

What Lowlight said. Just used mine w/ suppressed Lapua and .308- worked flawlessly as he described. Muzzle slightly behind, 6" to side, sensitivity on 1, side offset setting @ 6". Numbers corresponded within 7 fps to observed drop @ 1k (.338) and 700 (.308). Oh, and triggered flawlessly w/o mic.

We run ours in doppler mode as well as we use it for some BPCR guns that also are down in the handgun velocity range. Our current optic is a drinking straw hot glued to the notch on top

I use a 1.5x G36 optic with reticle indexed off of multiple points of the frame in a printed polycarbonate shell. It’s removable for transport and repeatable (enough). A straw would work, but I wanted to make something more elegant. I originally started with just the optic tube, and worked ok too, but handsfree is the way to go.

I wasnt having any problems suppressed with the can a few inches behind and to the side until I tried shooting my 300 blackout. Supersonic still, but for some reason it picked one up at 2400 fps which I thought was high and then nothing for another dozen and then one reading of 3500 fps and nothing for another dozen or so. It was giving me the error where the projectile was not acquired so I guess it sensed it going off but couldnt track it? I had to get up and press enter. Seems strange that the 223s were all alright but the larger 30 cal had issues. Makes me think that the airgun trigger wont solve my problems if so.

the db on a supersonic 223 is higher than on the 300 blk subsonic ... so wouldnt this be your issue at triggering the shot?

But its a supersonic 300.

Right after I shoot the orange light blinks and it pops up and says "Acquisition error: could not track projectile" so its triggering the sound, its just not finding the bullet in flight.

That’s likely an aiming issue. We’re basically aiming a phone book, it’s not very intuitive. That’s why I made the optical device.

Its just so weird because 5 minutes earlier the 223 upper with the radar in exactly the same positioning worked, I didnt change a thing with the labradars position between the two, aimed exactly the same. Just popped one upper off and popped the other on. Looked aimed well through out all of the testing.

After the first couple errors I then tried shifting the muzzle to in front of the radar, I tried it even and I tried it behind the radar again, from 2" to 1' off to the side. Trigger vs doppler didnt make a difference in picking up the round. Same aquisition error. This weekend Ill eff with it again. Ill try hot gluing a straw trick before I buy a mk machining aim device and see if that can help idiot proof myself.

If I werent in a sort of hurry to get to lunch last saturday I would have shot some more 223 after just to be certain that it wasnt the radar itself that broke. We'll see again this weekend. Ill probably shoot a couple without the can if it still fails just to check that. I only had so many blackout rounds loaded up to test, no extras to test radar function outside of the OCW.

I had a similar experience once, unsupressed. Started with my friends 224, got the data for him, switched to my rifle and was getting maybe 1 result per 7 or 8 shots. Ruined my load development. I haven’t had it since fixing the aiming, but I also bring at least a box of “sighters”.

I used to get only a few data points (v0, v1, etc), but now I get them all. If you don’t, you should also pay attention to those, they can help you identify where your bullet comes into the line of sight and when it leaves.

Also, obviously, neighbors can really ruin your time. One time my friend proceeded to shoot all of his ammo across my lane. I basically had to wait an hour for him to finish before I could start.

I have been watching this thread and I am having similar issues with mine but also with a muzzle brake. I put the unit 3-4 inches on front of the muzzle on setting 1 and with the suppressor I may get 3 out of 7 to read. With a muzzle brake I may get 5 out of 7. Even with the unit in front of the muzzle brake the concussion of the rifle will cause the unit to reset like you turned it back on. I spoke with the guys from Labradar and they said it was shaking the batteries loose. I know people have good luck with these but I have struggled to get it to read and have lost enough confidence I use my 35P to validate the speeds.

You don't "mod" something to get it to perform as intended!

Really? Producers of high end equipment can never take envision every possible use of their product. ANYTIME I have ever bought anything or had something issued to me I modified it to fit m needs and or the missions need.

I see your complaint often. From my experience it is usually made by people who cant do anything for themselves and want someone else to produce tormenting 100% custom for them. They are also the first one to complain about the price of getting one of those 100% customized products.

Yeah, what forward looking chronograph manufacturer could ever have imagined shooting a weapon with a suppresser on it? Really?

Your experience is only exceeded by your ignorance and you obviously don’t know anything about me, Fanboy. But don't let that stop you from removing all doubt.

Glad you took the time to make the pretty red font so I knew what you were trying to say.

You can rest assured, I could care less who you are or what you hav accomplished (the latter is much more important though) . You made rude comment on this post, I called you out and your pissed. Oh well

I have one buddy who shoots ELR stuff and has issues acquiring but not triggering... I haven't gotten together with him to compare units side by side. Another guy had one just out of the box and couldn't get it to work... it would trigger but not acquire. I happened to be at the range and we went side by side with the units... his had to get sent back and it has been great for him ever since. I never had an aiming issue. If the issue is acquiring and not a triggering issue that seems like a service call. And I NEVER use the internal batteries... big USB battery with a 2.1 or 2.4A output port.

You may also have luck with the Quad pod which puts the unit above your barrel instead of where the muzzle blast goes. I have done the same thing with one of my tripods. I dont use this quad pod but it is here...

I appreciate the feedback, I use the external battery I bought from Labradar and it's mounted on the flat plate and I use a small sand bag to anchor it. i set the unit approx 5-6 inches in front of the muzzle and about the same to the left side. Maybe I need to send it in and have it checked since it doesn't seem to perform as I would expect. Luckily I kept my 35P which to be honest has performed flawless but is a PITA to set up and get lined up which is why I bought the Labradar.

I have a lab radar and use it all the time. Suppressed and not. It works great. Rarely misses a shot. Seems silly to use anything else. But hey if it’s to difficult to aim the box at the target and get your muzzle near the box and shoot then maybe the magneto speed is the best option for you. ? I prefer to get my POI and velocity data together.
