is there no way to rename strings of shots?

Did a few searches. Can't even find anyone asking this question. Seems basic and I'm guessing its something I'm overlooking.

I dont think so.

I just take the sd card out and download it to my computer to save and graph the particulars and then clear it. I never have anything more on the radar than what Im recording that day and I have spreadsheets of much more info than just the numbers.

It's a flash drive. You can dump the flash contents to your computer to save a copy of the existing flash drive directory structure and contents. The string-of-shots data are saved under the LBR directory within a subdirectory named after the date (using the subdirectory name convention of mmddyy). Under the date directories/folders, the various shot strings are stored in further subdirectories named sr001, sr002, etc. You can rename those shot string subdirectories to whatever you want on the computer without disturbing the original flash drive. I'd keep the LBR/mmddyy/[shot-string-name] format because it preserves useful info. Then you can manipulate those as you like on the computer.
