i use both, depends on the surface. tripods are bust for uneven surfaces, the plate is good on concrete...but be sure to have some weight on it.Plate vs tripod
Pros cons?
Which you prefer..why?
I mostly shoot prone ...tripod better?i use both, depends on the surface. tripods are bust for uneven surfaces, the plate is good on concrete...but be sure to have some weight on it.
if i had to pick one over the other, id go tripod as its more versatile. just make sure it can get super low and i recomend one without the center column. the quadpod is also a good choice, very sturdy.I mostly shoot prone ...tripod better?
I use CAL bipods id say my minimum height is 1 click up where i shoot and zero at 100y..the rest is elevated higher for longer range..is the labradar brand tripod (orange) will work or its too high?if i had to pick one over the other, id go tripod as its more versatile. just make sure it can get super low and i recomend one without the center column. the quadpod is also a good choice, very sturdy.
So the thing about that tripod is the center column is high and gangily. in wind the labradar becomes a sail and it could still tip over. but if you go that route, just put a sand bag over the legs and you should be fine and no height wont be an issue.I use CAL bipods id say my minimum height is 1 click up where i shoot and zero at 100y..the rest is elevated higher for longer range..is the labradar brand tripod (orange) will work or its too high?
Ty brother..any recommendation or height for a tripod? So the thing about that tripod is the center column is high and gangily. in wind the labradar becomes a sail and it could still tip over. but if you go that route, just put a sand bag over the legs and you should be fine and no height wont be an issue.
anything that can get as low as possible and spread the legs out. The nightforce tripod is a good one but the center column is always the sticking point. if you can find one where you can move that center column entirely and use a base you will be much better off but i would look for one that can go as low as 4-6".Ty brother..any recommendation or height for a tripod?
What added nut.can you show usThis tripod works well for me. I just added another nut in between for a tighter/more secure fit. I tried a manfrotto tripod, but it was too narrow (might tip over)... this pod can get very low and act as a plate type stand as well. Worth $32 IMO. It’s a solid piece and has rubber feet.

Ty brother..that makes senseHere’s a pic. The nut gets tighten up to black spacer which shortens the stud that goes into the Labradar. Makes the entire connection more solid and secure. I felt the stud was to long and wouldn’t tighten good enough. When I did move the spacers up, it would be loose after a bit at the range from just manipulating the whole thing around. Works for me...
