Lapua is set to announce at the SHOT show a version of its .308 Winchester cartridge case that has a small BR-style primer pocket.

The flash-hole size of the pre-production .308 Lapua Palma brass is 1.5mm (.059).

This reminds me of old Universal Remington Benchrest (UBR) .308 brass, which I would shoot if I could find any.

When I tried it, using a small rifle primer raised pressures instead of lowering them.

Does anyone have info on:

1) The actual primer pocket size that Lapua will be using in the production brass;

2) Planned case wall thickness at the neck (will it be thinner brass like the UBR was?);

3) How using a small rifle primer will affect the pressures obtainable with a standard diameter firing pin hole?

Yeah, just saw that.

I'm pushing 180 VLD LBT's with a .580 BC at 2730fps in a .308. That's putting the cartridge on the edge of its performance envelope. But at the 1020 yard stage I was at 9.8 Mils elevation and I was only holding 1 Mil of wind. Not bad for a .308 with a 12-twist in 45 degree weather.

I wanted to see if anyone had some of the new brass and had taken measurements. I really liked the UBR stuff, but I know if I try to switch to the Lapua I'll have to work up new load data, with less power, than in my present load.

What is the going street price on these if you find them? I've used them exclusively for mid range on my M1As to launch the 185 Bergers.
