I see Lapua brass is offered in either small rifle or large rifle primer pockets. I was wondering if there is a concensus if one is better than the other? I know better is quite objective, but after a search, I only found one small blurb on the subject. Softer ignition, smaller SD. That was it.

I would love to go SRP pocket and make large reloading component orders easier as I already use these for 223 and 40 S&W in bulk, but I will go the LRP route if the accuracy/brass life, etc is better.

Re: Lapua 308 small rifle vs large rifle

If you shoot in extremely cold temperatures you could have ignition problems with the smaller pockets. Thats not speculation as I've seen it up here where it gets down to minus 40F.

Aside from the SD and ignition in the cold, has anyone tested LRP and SRP brass of equal reloads to determine +/- on accuracy and velocity?

You use small rifle primers to load 40 S&W?
