Hey guys, I've got a form 1 suppressor that is 7" in length and weighs about 18oz. Its mounted on a remington 700 factory 308 with 24" heavy barrel in a KRG bravo chassis. I'm zero at 100yd with some speer 180gr reloads without the suppressor. When the suppressor is mounted, I'm getting about 35in of POI shift. Is this normal due to the length and contour barrel with the weight of suppressor? I've got other suppressors(5.56 and .45) and they dont have near as drastic of a shift.

Worst I've seen is a little over 4" in normal situations but I've heard of worse. A friend of mine cannot get his Rem to shoot suppressed. Bullets keyhole way off target. Heavy taper 5R and it has been bore scoped and rod checked, perfect alignment and no baffle strikes. Rifle shoots half moa or better unsuppressed.

I've shot it on my buddies AR in 6.5 creed, and only saw about 4in shift. I completely disassembled the rifle and put it back together, properly torquing the action bolts. Still have the same shift, it does group well though

my 2 cents.
Premium suppressors (like my Thunderbeasts) on a heavy bbl will have negligible POI shift at 100y. As in less than an inch. I have the Ultras in 7 and 9" in 6.5 and .30 and they are pretty much interchangeable on the 6 and 6.5 variants I shoot. These all shoot around 1/2 moa groups.

For yours to shift 35 MOA, I think you're looking at a baffle strike, although your groups being reasonable is perplexing. If it works well on another gun, I'd look at getting the barrel rethreaded. Something is amiss.

Ok I think i found it. I inspected the hole on the end cap and there is a little lip about 1/4 way around the drilled hole. It doesnt look like a strike but maybe its similar to a messed up crown?

I have a massive 2lbs (almost) suppressor I use on a 223 bolt gun and only have 1.5MOA drop in elevation. 1MOA shift in elevation. The barrel is 26” long and I believe 0.830” diameter at the muzzle.

Not a typo lol i have to hold at 35 to get anywhere close

With the can mounted, is any part of the barrel coming into contact with any part of the chassis? Prob not but figured I’d ask...

It seemed to have a somewhat expected shift on your buddy’s rifle; 35 MOA is the largest Suppressor-induced POI shift I have ever heard.

No contact, u can slide a piece of paper all the way down the barrel. Im going to start with cleaning up holes and see if it affects anything. I think ive looked at everything else

That's a CRAZY big POI shift. Across a variety of calibers ranging from .223 to .308 ... the biggest 100 yard shift I get is sub-2 MOA. Something is wrong. Have you tried it on more than one rifle? If so, are the results consistent across different weapons?
