I just traded for this factory built Larue SPR. It arrived yesterday and after a complete "once over", I have to say the the fit and finish are near perfect. I'm looking forward to seeing how it stacks up against my POF SPR at the range on Saturday.

I've got some BH 69 and 77gr HPBT for the range. If anybody has one, what does your like to eat?

Thanks,
Matt

Don't have one, but great looking gun you have there. Do you anticipate any issues with the Scope mounted on both the receiver and the forearm and it not being an MRP?

Re: Larue Stealth 18" arrived yesterday

My next upper.....should be ordering in a couple of weeks.

Looking forward to reading your range report.....how do you like that Surefire Comp?

Re: Larue Stealth 18" arrived yesterday

Actually the scope is coming off before I hit the range and the scope will be set in a GG&G one piece mount. It's just posed for now, and a little low for my liking, lol.

Thanks,
Matt

Re: Larue Stealth 18" arrived yesterday

The Stealths are HAMMERS! With the two factory ammo choices you mentioned, you should be well under MOA and depending on your skill set, the Stealths are 1/2MOA capable.

As for the scope...you can cross-mount scopes with the Larue setup without concern. I generally don't do it because I am paranoid and don't want to "chance it" with any flex/ht differences/etc. between the receiver rail and HG rail...but it won't hurt anything.

Congrats and good luck...be sure to post a range report after you put it through its paces this weekend.

Thank you for the input and compliments. I need to figure out how to be sick from work tomorrow and go shoot. I think you should get a "free day" off from work when you get a new stick, now that would be the "American Way!"

Both my 16" and 20" Stealths shoot consistent .5 MOA like its going outta style. They devour the heavier bullets. The load mine live on is 25 grs of Varget in LC brass with 77gr SMK's seated to mag length. Shoot great out to 800. Occasionally, I get lucky and get a .25 - .35 MOA 5 Shot group at 100.

Very cool, thanks for the recipe. I may handload a few different loads before Saturday.

See my thread. But mine loves this load. It is a consisten .64 moa performer. Case Lake City trimmed to 1.750 Primer Federal Match
Bullet 77 grain Sierra SMK. Powder Vitavory N135 22.5 grains (started at 21.5 and worked up all were accurate)
OAL 2.260

Here is the results.

My stealth does not like light bullets as much. Its average with 52 grain Sierra bullets is around 1.35

Re: Larue Stealth 18" arrived yesterday

Had a 16" Stealth that shot .75 MOA. LaRue makes great stuff and their uppers are awesome. I ended up going for a 20" barrel and sold the stealth, but the new owner is just as happy as I was.

Hopefully, weather permitting I'll be on the range tomorrow. The rain finally stopped here but here in the PNW that changes rather quickly.

I have had nothing but good luck with them. They are clear, repeatable and built like tanks. On the flip side some feel they are too heavy, I just say they are built to be used.

I recently had tried to sell a 6-24x50 XTR here on the Hide (couldn't give it away) as the adjustments were too coarse for most, 1" elevation and 1/2" windage. I called Burris repair/customer service out of Colorado and spoke to a guy named "Martin". He explained they could change the knobs to 1/4" adjustments for $40.00, needless to say I am keeping the scope and it should be back in my hands tomorrow, a hair over 2 weeks after I sent it. Great scopes and service.

I am having a problem with the first shot in a fresh mag being a flier, anyone have any suggestions on how to cure that? Im wondering if the Enidine buffer has anything to do with it.

Re: Larue Stealth 18" arrived yesterday

Suck it up on the first round flier ... doccument it and hopefully when you need to make a first round hit it will be repeatable.

It is one of the downsides of running a gasser. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesnt.

HUH ??

Re: Larue Stealth 18" arrived yesterday

I ignore the Viking.

I ordered 1/2 pound of Tungston powder last night and I'm going to start experimenting with adding weight to a rifle buffer and see if I can work out a more consistant fresh round loading.

Lick my balls dude ... if you didnt have a first round flier why did you buy tungston powder to adjust your buffer weight?

Sometimes a first round "hand chambered" round out of a gas gun produces a flier and a different POI from POA.

So I said doccument how much of a change in POI from PoA there is on that hand chambered round and see if it is repeatable. IF its repeatable then you will know how much to adjust on that hand chambered round when it is needed.
