Re: LaRue Tactical OBR vs Sig 716 Precision...
I chose the OBR because I had the chance to shoot one at a precision rifle course I attended. The rifle just flat ran. It had been shot supressed and unsupressed for hundreds of rounds without cleaning, and it went bang everytime. Reliability? Check. The owner was making routine hits with factory ammo out to 1150yds. Accuracy? Check. I was fortunate to be able to shoot his OBR supressed (basically no recoil) and the hits came as fast as you could pull the trigger (I was at less than 1150, can't recall the exact distance I believe it was ~955-ish, but could be wrong). Needless to say, after that experience I had to have one. Another 'Hider who was also in attendance who shot it also went home and sold some stuff to purchase one.
Never shot a rifle from the other builders you reference. I hear the GAP10 is pretty sweet. I am sure that's true. I don't believe these were available when I bought my OBR. Even if they had been, I still would've purchased the OBR. I got to have a test drive, and for me shooting was believing. First hand experience with accuracy and reliability in a platform inspires a good deal of confidence. Again, no criticism of other systems. No experience with 'em - can't comment on 'em. I just know what I know about the OBR, and I know its a great platform. The thing basically makes my boltguns obsolete. I am still learning how to run the semi- well... and loving every minute of it.
