I am not a proficient semi-auto guy at all. I have frequented the bolt gun forum a bunch, but have recently decided I NEED to have a 6.5 CM in a semi-auto platform. I have been doing some research and was really looking at budget as I don't feel like i would use this as much as my bolt gun, but again, I NEED to have something different. I have bounced around and looked at the Savage 10 Hunter, Aero has some offerings as well as DPMS and Rock River.

I stumbled upon a link to LaRue Tactical in another post on here for their Ultimate Upper Kit. Is that for real? If so, that seems like the deal of all deals. I am not sure of the difference in the components as compared to those on their $3,300 rifles, but there is no way they offer a sub-par rifle, even if it is a cheaper version, right?. Anyone have experience with this particular kit? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I guess accuracy wise its hot or miss. I bought a Craddock Grendel for mine because I wasn't satisfied with the accuracy of the factory barrel. its still a good deal. I had both a kit and a full rifle. The full rifle is no better than the pieced together kit with exception of being factory FDE.

Rock River have been known to be exceptionally accurate, not just for their price but compared to much higher priced guns. You can always get an Aero Precision builders kit and spec out your own parts and build it on your kitchen table.

I have a 22” 6.5CM Larue UU Rifle. It shoots really well for me. I’ve gotten 0.50-0.70” groupings (5 shot) at 100 yards, and shot steel well out to 900 yards.

I’ve read about more than one turd put out in 6.5 Grendel though.

Folks are quick to post the negative's of a company that seems to be not well received at the Hide.
What about the thousands of folks that are happy with their Larue UU's? Don't read about those very often as good info is posted less than bad info.

I received my 1st UU kit in Grendel yesterday. If it's crap Larue will take care of it.

My experience with their factory rifles has been excellent. I can understand the resentment towards the man but his products work well.

I have a Factory 6.5 G and I have shot the smallest groups with it than any other gun I have ever shot lol I also have a factory tOBR and have had no problems with it. in .308 configuration.. But when I got a 6.5 CM and .260 barrel for it there was some defendant over gassing issues suppressed.. Once I got there Suppressor it cleared it up..

Is mark a dick ? yes

Do his rifles shoot? Yes... the ones I have anyway.. but I don't have an UU Kit

As others have said, based on reports, they seem to be hit or miss, but you'll mostly only read mostly negative stuff online.
For what you're getting, even if you have to re-barrel with a known match barrel, it still seems to be a good deal [particularly if you take advantage of the Larue lower with it]. I think it's probably worth the gamble if you are looking for something in this price category.
