Kurt, fantastic event today - thanks for setting that up. It was my 1st tactical event ever and WOW what an eye opener! I have a LOT of work to do before I enter another match. But at least shooting in one has really shown where my weaknesses are and what I need to work on. Once I get my reloading gear reconstituted and have a reliable source of good ammo and a lot of time on the range getting used to my rifle - I'll plan on trying some more events out at DSRPC later in the year.

Thanks again!

Thanks for putting the match on, Kurt! Great turn out, too...it's always nice to see new shooters out there. See you all in October - hopefully the weather will cool off a bit - but that may also mean the return of the "match monsoon season". Bring your raingear!

Re: Las Vegas Match Results

Great shooting Saturday, Ryan! That new rifle and your extensive practice seems to be paying big dividends. Are you completely sold on the .260? No returning to the mighty .308?

Yah! I got carried away with the 15 round string. That is a barrel burner. I like to keep the strings 10 rounds or less. It was fun though.

It was very fun ...just kid'n about the dancers

Re: Las Vegas Match Results

Actually the 15 round stage really let me get my holds dialed in right. It was my first time on it with my 260 so now I got things figured out.

Bear-I think I'm only going to shoot a 308 again if I absolutely must. The 260 is fantastic.

What happened to your rifle?

Re: Las Vegas Match Results

Chiller -

Once you knocked that bullet out of the lands with the cleaning rod, you should've just shaken that thing out to get rid of the powder and then let 'er rip. What would you have done if you were in the field for a big hunt and that happened? I'm sure you'd have been fine continuing on in the match ... but that's just the way I would've handled it.

it might be time to add one of those nylon ar10 chamber brushes (rifles only store has em) and a rod to your range kit. I know I'm going to be as I've had something similar happen a few weeks back when I was running the bolt home hard enough that a misfed round bent at the neck and the bullet fell out on me... Quick run of a star chamber brush and a single patch should clear that out in the "field".
