I phone pics..One day I will get a good camera..ADD spelling and all the :;.,' THAT YOU WANT FOR YOUR PLEASURE..
This works on other Red Carbon lasers..

One L72 LASER HEAD
200 EXPOSED FILM
Butler creek cap or rear Aimpoint Cap
Base for weapons mount..

Drill hole in center of cap.Use 2 sided tape or cut a hole in some tape and over capture the Peace of 200 film cut to cover the hole..Does not matter what side Of the film goes to the laser side..

I prefer the larue offset 1" light mount on the 12:00 rail ..this will give good bore height for down range performance and stay to the side of the Optics view..If you do CQB 50 yards or so the 3:00 or 9:00 mount works perfect for keeping bore to laser close in CQB shooting this hurts down range..."Think mecahnical offsets" .

This works easy out CQB-300 yards depending on lighting you also have the full power laser at the ready by fliping the cap open..

The partical board wall soaks up some of the laser I will post pics when It gets dark outside tonight..

Interesting for sure, the film appears to filter out the sidelobes of the laser beam profile.

If you have the inclination, I'd like to see the same pix without the film but with the cap on.

I have to admit for a civi there has to be a better way than owning a unit that costs a ton, is considered grey by the FDA, and would never be repaired by the manufacturer in the event it took a dump.

Thank you for the work on this.

Good luck

Frankie,

Great tests and thanks for sharing the excellent pics of your custom designs and their performance.

For an affordable, compact, vendor supported, FDA approved (for civilian use), IR laser, check out the new Class 1 IR laser that Lasermax is releasing:

http://www.americanrifleman.org/videos/lasermax-ir-laser/

It is a variant of their ultra-compact "UNI" model, which has been around for years in the red and green visible output. At 0.1 milliwatt, the UNI IR is useful for close-quarters use and the IR light reflection from the dot will not "flare" when viewed with night vision even with the gain turned all the way up.
