Night Vision LDI SPIR 850nm IR Illuminator

This LDI SPIR (Special Purpose LED IR Illuminator) is one sweet setup, very professional looking & feeling design with excellent ergonomics, comes complete with weapon mount, remote, & batteries.

Weight is 9.8 ounces complete with weapon clip-on mount and remote switch, runs on two CR-123 in a side by side installation, so cannot run 18650 Li rechargeables in it.

The unit appears to be waterproof and the battery installation receptacle is rubber sealed with a clip open-close switch. There is a Hi (600mW) and Low (300mW) selector switch for the IR beam.

I'll try taking some NV pics of it with the NV MonoCam tonight but I believe it is about full moon, so don't really need any IR Illum...

Maybe I'll try walking out a hundred yards or so and taking a regular light pic back at it to see how much of the red glow you can detect downrange at different angles off center of the beam (bolt locked open...)

BB, yes it does have an adjustable focusable beam similar to the LDI DBAL-D2 adjustable IR Illuminator.

It is a full moon tonight, so will be PLENTY bright out...

The SPIR functions virtually identical to my two DBAL-D2 IR LED Illuminators, which is to say it works extremely well.

Also great for NV photographers as you can simply mount the unit onto your camera setup to illuminate the darkest of night photo shoots too!

Nothing illegal about owning one in Kali. The issue comes if the unit is used in conjunction with a NV rifle scope that has a reticle. Kali Penal Code states this is a NV Sniper Scope that is illegal in Kali. Yes, that also means if a PVS-14 with its INTERNAL RETICLE if used behind a day scope and/or MRDS, can also be classified as a NV Sniper Scope.

Bottom line on the NV scopes, if you run one with a reticle, you cannot have the evil IR illlumination with it. :-/ Hope this helps.

P.S. A VERY old law that makes no sense...I know of only one case law from the 80's in which one person was arrested for the said device that had a reticle. The case was thrown out of court because the NV scope did not have any IR illumination with it.

Any person who knowingly buys, sells, receives, disposes of, conceals, or has in his possession a sniperscope shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000) or by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than one year, or by both such fine and imprisonment. As used in this section, sniperscope means any attachment, device or similar contrivance designed for or adaptable to use on a firearm which, through the use of a projected infrared light source and electronic telescope, enables the operator thereof to visually determine and locate the presence of objects during the nighttime. This section shall not prohibit the authorized use or possession of such sniperscope by a member of the armed forces of the United States or by police officers, peace officers, or law enforcement officers authorized by the properly constituted authorities for the enforcement of law or ordinances; nor shall this section prohibit the use or possession of such sniperscope when used solely for scientific research or educational purposes.

Hey there, I am a newbie to the discussion. I was planning to buy a camera for my place but could not decide as to which one I should get. I saw this. It really functions effectively. I think I should get on of these. What u guys think. Please suggest me which one I should prefer......

Ive been doing a bit of homework on this as well. Very dumb and obsolete law. It makes it confusing for us in CA who wants to play with some cool toys but always feel the need to quadruple check the law before doing anything.
