Lead Sled 2 hard ret pads ?

I just purchased a lead sled 2 from Amazon, they have them for about 150.00 right now. Opened the box, a little worried about the hard plastic front support, and the hard plastic insert at the rear. This will damage wood stocks. I own some nice wood stocked rifles, so, here is the big question. Is there an alternative for the pads ? Hard plastic and fine wood simply do not wear well together. Sorry about the spelling in the title, can't fix it.

Get some sheets of moleskin and cover them up.

ditch the lead sled and get a bipod and rear bag instead. or just sandbags if you dont want a bipod
