Left Elbow Prone Question

Hello,
I've been working on addressing the rifle consistently at home. Chasing the why does my recoil pulse send me left of target question (right handed). I have made huge progress and would like some input on left elbow placement.

Trying to keep everything square and video has lead me to my left elbow. If i keep my elbows square it seems my left shoulder is higher than my right. However, if I move my left elbow forward slightly this seems to even out my shoulder height better. Do others find a forward left elbow helps with square shoulders or are your elbows and shoulders both square?
Cheers

Are you really close to the ground? I know if I’m very flat to the ground it creates a tendency to almost roll to my right shoulder when I pot my eye on the cheek piece. Trying bringing your elbows in a little and raising up a little more off the ground.

Damn i might have to re-evaluate my technique. Ive always tried to be as low as possible. Always seemed like i could get more steady. It seems like when i raise my atlas bipod higher there is more slop in everything. Less stable. Maybe i need to get higher and preload a little more?

Haha totally man I have been re evaluating my technique too.. I'm so low there is hardly space for a rear bag. Raising up my atlas has helped me get a better rear bag placement and made my dry fire more stable. The butt stock sits better in the shoulder and breathing doesn't affect the hold as much when not laying on chest. However, I do have slightly more weight on my elbows and feel less connected to the ground. I'll see what happens with recoil management this weekend.

You want the rifle track straight back.

1) Get the rifle more centerline on your body (medial clavicle near your SC joint) and get square behind the rifle.

2) Get your chest off the ground a little bit (stuff your sweatshirt, a small bag or pack etc right where you ribs meet your abdomen) It helps with eliminating movement from breathing and gets your body more in line with the recoil of the rifle.

Both of those things get your body more in line with the bore axis of the rifle and will help.

I like that sweatshirt idea thanks man!
This video shows the recoil of a shooter thats 100x better than me. His recoil is mostly up left with a 6.5. My pulse is larger but similar with a 7mm rem mag, so maybe I'm over thinking those straight back comments and just need to be satisfied.

As long as I keep my shoulders square to the rifle and target, I let my support side elbow go where it may when holding the rear bag.

But take this w a grain of salt…I’m no expert.

Your elbows need to be natural, think of your little kids, or yourself growing up,

We laid on the floor watching TV or their Computers for hours, you never have to teach a child how to lay on the floor, they just do it. The position of their elbows is very telling in this context. So we need them out naturally supporting our body at a natural height.

You don't wan to go unnaturally low, higher is actually better for comfort, but you want to balance the height the shooter's body type.

here is about the only image I have on hand that shows a left elbow

Here in the shoulders, you want to eliminate angles as well, the height of the left and right elbow should be the same. The position should be out from the shoulder and not forward pointing at the target as some do,

Comfort is the key, so find that same spot that would allow you to lay on the floor and watch TV all day
