Just sold a Bushnell Yardage Pro Sport 450 rangefinder that was more adept to bowhunting than shooting as it didn't range more than 200-250yd without a truck-sized target to reflect on...and am looking for better kit.

The two places I have to shoot are 600-700yd long at the most; my budget is <$300, and used gear is fine with me. Compact size would be nice but definitely isn't necessary as I won't be hunting with it.

I've been looking at the Bushnell Scout 1000 and Legend 1200, as well as used Elite 1500s. I've also come across a couple Leica 800s in the $225 range.

I've done a search here and on Google, but I'm curious what SH members think about the Leica 800...especially in comparison to the three Bushnell units.

Thanks!

I have the Leica LRF 800. Overall a nice unit for the money. Excellent Glass quality. I can range a woods behind the house at 770 yards depending on conditions. Reflective objects out to 800 yards no problem. A dog standing at 500 yards maybe not... I'm saving up for the Bushnell Fusions.
