Hey guys, looking for someone who has shot with both, I'm thinking about selling my Leupold Mark lV CQ/T and putting on a VX-R 1-4 or maybe 3-9. I'm mainly looking for more power, and something that I can shoot longer distance with. The dot/circle reticle is awesome, but there is no verticle hair for holdovers and no finger turrets.

My question is, what is the quality difference between the two? Glass quality, reliability, durability etc. Would I be sacrificing too much to go to a VX-R? Any imput would be appreciated!

+1 on the SS

I also have the Leupold cq/t and like the name says CQ/T (close quater tactical) is what it's used for. It's a great tactical scope just a little on the heavy side.

What do you have it mounted too?

Problems with the CQT

Reticle... sucks. It disappears on any dark back ground and the illumination sucks. Sunny out = no reticle. Dark out but using a tac light = no reticle. Plus it doesn't allow for hold overs and the dot is too large. Making zeroing at closer targets a major pain and shooting at smaller targets impossible.

There are better things out.

Victory
You are 100% correct that the reticle does disappear in certain conditions but not always. The first gen was a orange color illuminated reticle and it was a bad idea. The second gen is now a red illuminated reticle so the problem is fixed.
