Rifle Scopes Leupold enough travel for 50 cal?

Re: Leupold enough travel for 50 cal?

Werent Leupys the issue scope on mil 50's? Not sure which model but I am pretty sure I have seen a bunch of mil 50's with some sort of Leupy.

Lots of bad press on the Luepold line lately, but I think a lot of it is simply bandwagoneering, mine have been flawless. But I take care of my gear.

Re: Leupold enough travel for 50 cal?

My MK4 16X has 140 moa erector travel.

On a 20 moa base I have 83 moa up, from a 100 yd zero. That's enough to get my 30-06 out to about 1800 yards (208 AMax at 2700 fps).

A 60 moa base would yield about 120 moa up, with a 100 yard zero. That should be enough to get you out past 2000 yards.

Re: Leupold enough travel for 50 cal?

Variable mark 4 scopes have less travel (not sure how much). Only the fixed mark 4's have the 140 min of elevation.

I use a mark 4 16x w ith a 30moa integral base on my AMAC. 100 yard zero is no problem and should hit the 50's max effective range (according to calcs anyway). I'm looking forward to confirming this soon.

Re: Leupold enough travel for 50 cal?

The M107 is issued with a leupold 4.5X14 Mark 4 and is used quite a bit past 1000. OP needs to be a bit more specific because 1001 meters is past 1000. Are you talking 1001 or 1700?

Re: Leupold enough travel for 50 cal?

I was thinking the Loopy Mk4 4.5-14x50 LR/T M1 has 100moa along with the Mk4 LR/T Target 4.5-14x40 offering 100moa.

Otherwise the other variable Mk4 offerings range from 65 - 70 - 75moa depending on the model.

Even the Mk4 10x models only offer either 75 and or 90moa depending on the model.
