Any one running a Leupold Mark 6 3-18 on a 1000+ yd stick? I really like the idea of a 3x on it for hunting in the woods and having the ability to reach out in the same scope. Just curious for some feedback, thanks!
Considering I have shot beyond 1K yards with 10x, yes it can be done. 18 x would be plenty, especially on larger game. Most here will gravitate towards higher magnification on a ELR round like the 338LM, but it sounds like you are more focused on hunting game than hunting steel.
Best bet would be March F 3-24X 42 mm. 2/3 rds the length and weight of all their premium competitors. MOA/MOA and Mil/Mil reticles available. Can reach out to 1 mile or more with 348LM.
Thanks for the input. I'm hunting elk on the Oregon coast this year and it gets a little thick over there. But I love the 338 and don't want to use another gun. I've never shot at an animal beyond 800 but just want to keep my options open up to 1000 for antelope or whatever the case may be.
