Rifle Scopes Leupold Mk 2

Anyone have first hand experience with the Mk2s?
I just picked up a sweet custom 221 Fireball built by Dan Lilja.
I am looking for a 4-16X or a 6-18X scope, this will be a primary tactical prarie dog rifle.
I really want a SF scope, but my self imposed $500 budget limits my choices.

I have one on my 10/22, and for that purpose, I like it, for the money. Glass is typical Leupold quality and the adjustments work.

I'd consider putting one on a LR hunting rifle, maybe out to 600 yards. The turrets are not made for cranking on them all day. One inch tube limits the adjustment range.

My son has a 6-18 Mark 2 on his prarie dog rifle. We are happy with it, but the rifle is not used past 500 yds.

I am running a 6-18x on my .221 FB and just picked up a 4-12x. The low profile adjustments are a plus. I typically shoot the FB under 400 yards on squirrels. The 6-18x tube is a little long for my tastes on a walking varminter,and eye relief is less than my 4.5-14x's. I don't need the extra magnification so I think I'll give the 4-12x a run.

I installed the 3-9 mil dot MK2 on my friends M1A. It sits in a Sadlak aluminum mount. The glass is clear and it has held up well.
