Guy's I am new to the forum and am looking for your opinions and recomendations for a new scope for a .338 WM. Not looking to spend a lot somewhere near $1000 maybe less. I have a NF and love it but not looking to spend that much. The two scopes i've been looking at are the Leupold Mark IV 4-14x50 and the IOR 4.5-14x50.
What are your thoughts on these two scopes? quality, durability, glass. How do they compare to Swaro and NF?
Any thoughts on other options.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Re: Leupold vs IOR

You kinda confused me on that one.

Basically you said, you want to spend about 1000 bucks, but how does it compare to a swaro. Which Swaro? a 750 dollar one or a 3500 dollar one?

To the best of my knowledge, swaro does not make a tactical scope. So, if the features you want are only found on tactical scopes, why are you asking about hunting scopes?

Good luck finding a new NF for 1000. You may get one for around 1300. If you are worried about durability, save for a couple moe months and buy the NF.

Of the two listed, I am fairly confident the IOR will have the better glass.

That does not mean it is a better scope.

Re: Leupold vs IOR

I have owned both and prefer the IOR over the leupold MK IV. Had no issues with internals on either but liked the reticle and glass more on the IOR. To qualify that statement I had the IOR 3-18, not the 4.5-14. And the reticle on the IOR is MP-8 dot - my favorite reticle. I also own a NF 5.5-22 and I have to say I really like that scope a lot!
