I guess the guy missed the day in school when they learned that the reason he is free to have an education is because some uneducated fat lazy farm kid from Missouri decided to join the army and come keep Hitler from taking over europe. If he knew what the "UNEDUCATED MAN" was responsible for in his everyday life, he would think a little different. All those demeaning little jobs he doesnt want to do would never get done, like the dishes!

While I think the Fowler family were jerks in general, they did raise some good points:

1. Probably would be beneficial if the Midwest dad maybe channeled some paintball funds to education.

2. They really do need to change their eating habits though. Obesity might be hereditary but that diet really doesn't help.


I don't really object to how the Fowlers raise their kids (giving them extra work and music lessons), but they really do need to give their kids more free time. Hard to see any balance in work/lessons all day and then only "fun" stuff that daddy sees fit.

The conclusion I draw from this episode is that both men come out badly. The two women appear to have nothing but good intentions and have to deal with two assholes.

Clearly both men are world class assholes in their own right. Here are some observations from both men:

<span style="font-weight: bold">Stephen Fowler</span>.

Calls her an uneducated redneck.
Makes fun of her pronunciation.
Treats her like shit.

No upper class or any kind of class Englishman would ever do that, or any other real man for that matter.

He is clearly an arrogant asshole who deserves a smack.

<span style="font-weight: bold">Alan Long</span>:

Skirt work.
Getting a scholarship through paintball. WTF
Eating fast food seven times a week.

He is treating parenthood as a light hobby.

His teenage son weighs 280 pounds and he is doing nothing about it, but blames it on genes.



But it makes for good entertainment and that is the most important thing, right? Remember it is an entertainment show, not a documentary.

JRose, I've spent some time in your part of the world (although probably more in CA ironically). I have a friends that live just over the state line in Gautier MS - we had a lot of fun down there but i suspect they would burst this guys bubble in a hearbeat ;-)

It worries me that this guy could ever be seen as a typical Brit although like anywhere else we do have our share of assholes...
