Hey guys i built a 6.5 creedmoor the other day and had a few rounds not fire from light primer strikes. It has a tubb aluminum firing pin assembly. But when i remove the bolt it looks like my pin is hitting the side of the hole the pin needs to slip through. What can i do??

I'd advise to remove the Tubb firing pin/spring and replace with a good one.

I drank the Koolaid and put one of those into my rifle and got light strikes too.

When I posted something about it, David jumped right in to defend the product and explain how great it is.

All I know is my rifle is good to go with the OEM pin/spring, and it won't fire reliably with the Tubb parts.

Mass, amount of fall and spring pressure are all critical for good ignition. The secret is getting that balance just right for easy bolt lift and sufficient energy to the primer. Look for .020" primer indentation, as a general rule. A little more is ok but a little less is not. This can be checked with a primed but NO powder case by gently lowering the FP down onto a primed case by holding the trigger back while lowering the bolt. Measure how far the cocking piece is inside of the bolt shroud, then repeat, except pull the trigger on a primed case as if firing a round, then measure as above. Keep muzzle pointed in safe direction at all times!
